GOALFLASHES AND MAJOR INCIDENTS (all times GMT)

By Caroline Cheese

2152: The final whistle goes and Middlesbrough survive an incredible comeback by Hull to set up a trip to Bristol City in the fourth round.

2149: Middlesbrough defender Andrew Davies gets in a vital tackle as Ian Ashbee attempts to equalise for an increasingly desperate Hull.

2143: There is still time for Hull to conjure up an equaliser in the late kick-off at the Riverside.

2142: The boos are ringing out at the Ricoh Arena. Coventry boss Micky Adams looks a broken man as he contemplates a miserable defeat to Bristol City.

2140: Full-time at the City of Manchester Stadium and Manchester City survive despite a battling performance by Sheffield Wednesday.

2139 The fourth-round derby is on as Wolves wrap up victory over Oldham to earn a home tie against West Brom. The final whistle goes at Barnsley and Southend are through too.

2137: Ipswich are through after a narrow 1-0 win over League Two Chester thanks to Matt Richards goal.

2136: Three Sheffield Wednesday players go to head in a corner but none can hit the target. Is that Wednesday's last chance.

2134: Veteran Sheffield Wednesday keeper Mark Crossley sprints up... well, it's more of a jog really... for a corner but he has to race back again as the moves breaks down.

2132: As it stands, Bristol City will host Middlesbrough in the fourth round, while Manchester City face Southampton at home. Wolves will face West Brom at Molineux, Southend will travel to Spurs or Cardiff and Ipswich earn a home tie against Swansea.

2130: Marcus Tudgay spurns a glorious chance to draw Sheffield Wednesday level against Manchester City - blasting over from six yards.

2127: GOAL Ipswich 1-0 Chester
Finally, Ipswich break the deadlock against their League Two opposition. Matt Richards fires in a low 25-yard effort which curls round Chester keeper John Danby.

2125: GOAL Middlesbrough 4-3 Hull
And there's another one. Andy Dawson fires in a stunning free-kick from 30 yards and the Tigers are showing some real bite here. Sorry.

2124: Just for the record: that was five goals in 14 remarkable minutes at the Riverside Stadium.

2120: GOAL Middlesbrough 4-2 Hull
They've gone goal crazy at the Riverside. Mark Viduka converts Andrew Davies' cross from the right and surely Boro have this in the bag now.

2119: GOAL Middlesbrough 3-2 Hull
What's going on here? Abel Xavier is lucky to stay on the pitch after bringing down Stephen McPhee with an awful challenge. Jon Parkin puts away the penalty.

2118: GOAL Oldham 0-2 Wolves
Rohan Rickett crosses from the left and Craig Davies heads in and Wolves are in complete control.

2115: GOAL Middlesbrough 3-1 Hull
Or not... Andy Dawson's glancing header gives Hull hope of a comeback from David Livermore's cross.

2113: GOAL Middlesbrough 3-0 Hull
Yakubu slots home the penalty and that looks like game over.

2112: Penalty at the Riverside. Yakubu's shot hits the bar and Stewart Downing is bundled to the floor as he tries to get on the end of the rebound.

2109: Chris Porter has a goal ruled out for offside as Oldham look to get back in it against Wolves.

2108: Unhappy home fans both at Oakwell and the Ricoh Arena. Barnsley fans are chanting former boss Andy Ritchie's name.

2105: GOAL Middlesbrough 2-0 Hull
James Morrison's scuffed shot hits the post and Mark Viduka is on hand to slam in the rebound.

2104: GOAL Barnsley 0-2 Southend
Lee Bradbury controls and fires home from the edge of the box.

2103: GOAL Coventry 0-2 Bristol City
It doesn't look good for Micky Adams now. Enoch Showumni heads in Lee Johnson's cross and Bristol City are on the verge of an upset.

2102: The second half is under way at the Riverside.

2100: GOAL Man City 2-1 Sheff Wed
Darius Vassell makes up for that last miss with a sweet finish after being set up by Bernardo Corradi.

2059: GOAL Oldham 0-1 Wolverhampton
A stunning goal from on-loan Liverpool man Darren Potter, who lashes into the top corner from 20 yards.

2057: Mark Crossley comes to his side's rescue as Darius Vassell rushes in. The keeper is injured in the process.

2055: GOAL Man City 1-1 Sheff Wed
Chris Brunt sends over a free-kick and Lee Bullen's flicked header goes over Nicky Weaver's outstretched arm and nestles in the net. The 6,000 travelling Wednesday fans go beserk.

2051: South Korea star Lee Dong-Gook is in the crowd at Middlesbrough, getting a first taste of his new club.

2049: Sheffield Wednesday throw caution to the wind and make a double change at the break, Yohan Folly and Wade Small coming on.

2047: It's half-time at the Riverside. Middlesbrough look to be in control but there are plenty of potential upsets elsewhere, notably at the Ricoh Arena where Coventry boss Micky Adams is under pressure following the Sky Blues' poor run.

2041: Mark Viduka takes on the Hull defence but after doing the hard work, he can't get his shot on target.

2036: And it's half-time everywhere - except at the late kick-off in Middlesbrough.

2034: GOAL Middlesbrough 1-0 Hull
A debut goal from full-back Seb Hines, who fires home from the edge of the area.

2033: That's a fabulous chance for Wednesday to equalise but Graham Coughlan heads over when completely unmarked in the box.

2030: GOAL Man City 1-0 Sheff Wed
A sucker punch for Wednesday who came so close to taking the lead. City go straight up the other end and Joey Barton crosses for Stephen Ireland to slot in.

2029: So close for Sheffield Wednesday. Chris Brunt lets fly with his left foot from 40 yards and his swerving shot is deflected just wide.

2027: GOAL Coventry 0-1 Bristol City
And Scott Murray does give Bristol City a shock lead against Coventry after some great work by Enoch Showumni. Probably deserved too.

2026: Jamie McCombe volleys just wide from a corner as Bristol City look to take a shock lead against Coventry.

2023: Bristol City striker Enoch Showumni blazes over in a rare chance at the Ricoh Arena.

2020: Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland releases Darius Vassell but the former England striker can't get past Sheffield Wednesday's veteran keeper Mark Crossley.

2018: League Two Chester are still holding on against Championship Ipswich.

2014: GOAL Plymouth 2-1 Peterborough
David Norris finishes with his right foot low into the bottom corner after a fine solo run. A deserved goal after a good spell of pressure by Ian Holloway's side.

2010: GOAL Barnsley 0-1 Southend
Captain Kevin Maher puts the Championship strugglers ahead at Oakwell from 20 yards after being set up by Freddy Eastwood.

2007: Julio Arca hits the post for Middlesbrough from 20 yards.

2005: GOAL Plymouth 1-1 Peterborough
Barry Hayles picks up the ball 40 yards out, exchanges passes with Ruben Reid, and his weak low shot somehow beats the keeper.

2003: Sheffield Wednesday go close. Steven MacLean feeds Marcus Tudgay, who unleashes a fierce shot which Nicky Wesver does well to palm away.

2002: The game at the Riverside kicks off.

2000: GOAL Plymouth 0-1 Peterborough
Aaron McLean latches onto a long ball, rounds the keeper and slots into the empty net.

1958: It's filled up a bit at Oakwell since kick-off but let's just say, it's far from a capacity crowd. The absentees are not missing much, it's very much a scrappy affair.

1957: Joey Barton's free-kick whistles past the post for Manchester City.

1952: Manchester City keeper Nicky Weaver has a tricky back-pass to deal with but he gets out of trouble as Chris Brunt runs in.

1947: And we're under way everywhere - except the Riverside.

1942: The new date for Luton v QPR has just been announced: it's Tuesday 23 January.

1939: It's wet and very windy at Boundary Park, in other words textbook FA Cup-upset conditions, as League One Oldham prepare to take on Championship Wolves.

1936: With less than 10 minutes to go until kick-off between Barnsley and Southend, there is hardly a fan in sight at Oakwell.

1931: Team news from the Riverside: Teenage full-back Seb Hines makes his Boro debut, with Emanuel Pogatetz and Andrew Taylor out. Hull are without former Boro star Nicky Barmby so Nicky Forster starts.

1909: Team news from the City of Manchester Stadium: Bernado Corradi gets a chance to fire Manchester City into the fourth round after Georgios Samaras tried and failed in the first leg, while Stephen Jordan returns in place of Nedum Onuoha. Everton target Madjid Bougherra is left out for Sheffield Wednesday but Joey Barton, also a target for Everton, lines up for City.

1845: The first result of the evening is in already... Luton's Kenilworth Road pitch is deemed unplayable and their replay against QPR is called off. No news on a new date as yet.
