Wes Hoolahan capped an outstanding individual display with a cheekily taken second-half penalty to send Blackpool into the FA Cup second round.
Hoolahan's dummy prompted keeper Matt Glennon to dive allowing the Blackpool midfielder to put the ball in the net.
The penalty had been awarded for Nathan Clarke's innocuous looking handball.
Earlier Clarke had come close to giving Huddersfield the lead when he hit the bar from the halfway line following keeper Rhys Evans' misplaced clearance.
