Burton boss Nigel Clough said he wanted his players to have positive memories after losing 5-0 to Manchester United in their FA Cup third-round replay.
Clough praised his players after their defeat to Man Utd
"We have had a fantastic day. The experience that the lads will take from this will stand them in good stead in the future," Clough said.
"We had a lot of young lads playing out there and I really hope that they enjoyed themselves.
"They have got memories for the rest of their lives now."
Clough said he hoped the core of the Burton team would stay together despite several players impressing in their two high-profile matches against United.
"Most of them are under contract to us, financially we are not under pressure and we hope to keep the nucleus of those together because there's some good young lads out there," he said.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson praised Burton's positive attitude throughout the game.
"We've had European and Premiership teams come here and never show that kind of positive attitude," he said.
"Most teams come here, stick one up front, fill the midfield and bore the pants off everyone.
"Sometimes they get a result, sometimes they don't. At least Burton have come here with a positive attitude."
And the United boss said the scoreline was not a humiliation for Burton.
""We have taken the game seriously. But Nigel Clough has done a fantastic job, and his work has been repaid by all those fans who came to support them."
