Fulham 1-2 Leyton Orient
Leyton Orient keeper Glyn Garner

Glyn Garner saved a second-half penalty from Collins John to help give Leyton Orient a shock FA Cup win over Fulham.

Tomasz Radzinski had a goal ruled out for the Premiership side before goals from Craig Easton and Joe Keith put League Two Orient firmly on top.

Having scored just after the restart, John was gifted a chance for his second from the penalty spot after a foul on Luis Boa Morte, but Garner kept it out.

A late Sylvain Legwinski lob nearly crept in but Garner tipped it over.

The opening exchanges were high on energy and enthusiasm but low on quality.

The one really impressive move early on was Fulham's length-of-the-pitch counter attack begun by John, which ended with Radzinski sliding the ball into the net, only for his celebrations to be cut short by an off-side flag.

But on 17 minutes Easton stunned the home fans when his deflected shot looped high into the top corner from the edge of the box after Fulham had failed to clear Keith's cross.

The goal seemed to have a calming effect on the game and the subsequent standard of play improved.

Legwinski was unlucky not to level with an optimistic cross-cum-shot which hit the bar while John should have done better with a close-range header.

But it was Orient who added to the scoreline just before the break, Keith's shot bobbling up over the head of keeper Tony Warner and into the net.

John's charge through to score gave Fulham an ideal start to the second half and, when Boa Morte was hauled down in the box, he had the perfect chance to level from the spot.

But to the delight of the travelling fans, Garner dived to his left and blocked the resulting penalty.

Garner had to be on his toes to keep out a late Legwinski lob as Orient held on for a deserved win.
