Plymouth followed up a first-round win at Bury by hammering Stockport in the FA Cup at Edgeley Park. The visitors opened the scoring after nine minutes with Ian Stonebridge firing home after on-loan David Norris' shot had been pushed aside by goalkeeper Lee Jones. Midfield partner David Friio headed in the second five minutes later after Jones could only tip a Lee Hodges` free-kick onto the crossbar. Plymouth goalkeeper Romain Larrieu superbly denied Jim Goodwin and Luke Beckett but the Pilgrims dominated the second period and when Stockport`s Aaron Lescott brought down Marino Keith in the 72nd minute, Paul Wotton drove home the spot-kick.
Stockport: Jones, Goodwin, Palmer, Tonkin, Gibb, McLachlan, Lescott, Briggs, Fradin, Beckett, Ross. Subs: Spencer, Burgess, Daly, Hardiker, Lambert. Plymouth: Larrieu, Worrell, Wotton, Coughlan, Hodges, Norris, Adams, Friio, Evans, Stonebridge, Keith. Subs: McCormick, Beresford, Aljofree, Sturrock, McGlinchey.
