Blackpool 3-1 Torquay
Blackpool, without eight senior professionals through injury, overcome Third Division high-flyers Torquay at Bloomfield Road. Torquay were still pushing for an equaliser which would have earned a replay when they had two players sent off at the death. Alex Russell was the first to go for a crude challenge on Blackpool's Scott Taylor and in the melee which followed, David Graham got his marching orders for dissent. Graham had split the Blackpool defence to set up Martin Gritton for Torquay's opener after just eight minutes but Blackpool hit back thanks to an own goal from Reuben Hazell. Taylor's excellent strike on 56 minutes put the hosts ahead and a goal from John Murphy finally settled the contest in the last minute.
