John Keister's penalty earned Margate a moneyspinning FA Cup second-round tie at home to Cardiff. The Nationwide Conference side dumped out Division Three opponents Leyton Orient at Dover's Crabble ground. Former Walsall midfielder Keister placed the spot-kick high and to the left of goalkeeper Scott Barrett six minutes into the second half after Sam Sodje had been fouled by Justin Miller. Margate also had their goalkeeper Charlie Mitten to thank as he produced vital saves from John Martin and Gary Fletcher. And they could have scored further goals themselves as Phil Collins, who had been doubtful for the game, and Terry McFlynn both went close. Margate: Mitten, Shearer, Edwards, Porter, Oates, Lamb, Saunders, Sodje, McFlynn, Collins, Keister. Subs: Smith, Beard, Munday, Turner, Griffiths. Leyton Orient: Barrett, Joseph, Smith, Miller, Lockwood, Hatcher, Harris, Canham, Martin, Nugent, Fletcher. Subs: Barnard, Morris, Brazier, Forbes, Ibehre. Referee: G Hegley (Hertfordshire).
