Shrewsbury 4-0 Stafford

A 2,000-strong band of travelling fans could not inspire Dr Marten's Premier League outfit Stafford Rangers to an FA Cup upset Shrewsbury eased to victory.

Veteran striker Nigel Jemson set the home side on their way before Peter Wilding finished clinically a few minutes later to double that advantage.

The non-league side, however, never stopped battling and they were unlucky not to reduce the deficit after the break after creating some good chances.

But late on the home side upped the pace and a second goal from Wilding and then a clinical strike from Jamie Tolley in the closing stages finally extinguished Stafford's cup dreams.

Shrewsbury: Dunbavin, Drysdale, Thompson, Jamie Tolley, Redmile, Wilding, Lowe, Atkins, Rodgers, Jemson, Van Blerk. Subs: Ian Stevens, Kendall, Murray, Jagielka, Mortimer.

Stafford Rangers: Price, Alex Gibson, Carter, Barrow, Daniel, Lovatt, Robinson, Robert Heath, Edwards, Davidson, Robin Gibson. Subs: Bailey, Beale, Downes, McAughtrie, Ward.

Referee: E Evans (Manchester).
