Richard Sadlier's two headed goals fired Millwall into the fourth round of the FA Cup for the first time in six years.

The high-riding Lions made hard work of seeing off Third Division Scunthorpe in an incident-packed match.

Things appeared to be going according to the script as Sadlier met Steven Reid's 14th minute cross to loop a header in off the far post.

I'd love to test this team against one of the bigger, Premiership sides, but not just yet
Millwall boss Mark McGhee
But Scunthorpe were gifted a route back into the game six minutes later by Millwall goalkeeper Tony Warner

Surrounded by team-mates, Warner spilled a corner and Scunthorpe central defender Jamie McCombe made no mistake from six yards.

With the home crowd venting their frustration, the game threatened to descend into farce.

Crude display

Goalscoring efforts were restricted to a few, long-range efforts and the focus fell on other incidents.

Millwall's Tim Cahill was stretchered off with a gashed leg, the result of an ugly challenge that went unnoticed by the referee.

A clash of heads then saw Iron scorer McCombe depart with a broken nose.

The ref was atrocious - his display frustrated the hell out of us and I am sure it frustrated the supporters
Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws

McCombe's replacement Stuart Thom was booked within five minutes of his introduction for a crude display of petulance on Harris.

The focus returned to football just after hour when Millwall regained the lead.

Sadlier showed his striking instincts as he got on the end of Marc Kinet's diagonal ball to nod home from close range.
