Sixto Peralta scored twice in his first FA Cup outing to take Ipswich through a testing tie at Nationwide Conference side Dagenham.

Further goals from Jim Magilton and Marcus Stewart avoided any threat of Ipswich becoming the first Premiership side to fall to non-league opposition.

Dagenham certainly put Ipswich to the sword in a torrid opening spell where they forced ten corners in the opening 12 minutes.

We haven't been disgraced, we did ourselves and the Conference proud
Dagenham boss Garry Hill

It was no surprise when the Daggers took a deserved lead on 18 minutes.

Jermaine Wright's challenge on Danny Hayzelden turned into a perfect pass for Junior McDougald who coolly slotted the ball under goalkeeper Andy Marshall's dive.

  Key moments
18mins: Junior McDougald fires Dagenham ahead.
31mins: Sixto Peralta levels.
44mins: Jim Magilton makes it 2-1 to Ipswich.
45mins: Mark Janney misses a chance to level.
65mins: Peralta scores his second to make it 3-1.
81mins: Marcus Stewart makes it 4-1.

It was 22 minutes before Ipswich provided Tony Roberts with any sort of test, as he claimed Hermann Hreidarsson's deflected cross.

The Premiership side played their way back into the tie and levelled on 31 minutes.

Martijn Reuser's low cross from the right was met by the stooping Peralta who flicked a header in off the inside of the post.

Two minutes before half-time Stewart's low cross found its through to the unmarked Reuser eight yards out, but in taking an extra touch to control, he allowed Terry to close him down and block.

It proved to be a temporary reprieve for Dagenham as a minute later Magilton took a knock-down from Bent in his stride to thump a volley in from 18 yards.

But in injury time, Mark Janney missed a glorious chance to send the sides in level, when he pulled his shot wide from seven yards.

Ipswich exercised much more control in the second-half, although Dagenham refused to lay down.

Lee Goodwin rose to plant a free header wide from eight yards out and at times Ipswich's defending had a desperate air about it.

Football lasts for 90 minutes and I didn't think Dagenham could keep the momentum up
George Burley

Ipswich gave themselves the cushion of a two-goal lead with 23 minutes left.

The Premiership side worked the ball neatly to free up Peralta in space in the penalty area and he buried a powerful angled shot past Roberts.

Marcus Stewart marked his return after seven weeks out with a broken jaw, with a coolly taken fourth on 81 minutes.
