Gutsy Dagenham bravely battled their way to a goalless draw and an FA Cup second round replay against Exeter.

Exeter lacked a cutting edge in front of goal while Dagenham rarely featured as an attacking force.

Yet the Conference side defended superbly to ensure that they would go into the draw for the next round.

Dagenham keeper Tony Roberts was in action straight from the kick-off as he pulled off a super save to keep out Graeme Tomlinson's powerful shot.

And Roberts had several more saves to make throughout the game as he performed heroics to keep his side in the hunt.

One of his best efforts came five minutes from time when he denied striker Steve Flack with a fine reaction stop.

The replay will take place on 18 December at Dagenham at 1945GMT.

Exeter: Van Heusden, Power, Watson, Campbell, McConnell, Buckle, Ampadu, Barlow, Roscoe, Tomlinson, Roberts. Subs: Fraser, Whitworth, Breslan, Flack, Cronin.

Dag & Red: Roberts, Vickers, Smith, Rooney, Janney, Shipp, Heffer, Terry, Broom, Charlery, Stein. Subs: Gothard, McGavin, Hill, Hayzelden, McDougald.

Referee: P Alcock (Halstead).
