Stubbs salutes Owen
Michael Owen made the difference
BBC Sport's Ray Stubbs reflects on Liverpool's stunning FA Cup comeback.
It was an incredible Final in so many ways. Arsenal looked the part and had Liverpool on the back foot. Just when it looked like the experience of Tony Adams and Martin Keown was going to win the day again, the pace and class of Michael Owen turned the game - and made the engraver very, very nervous.
He had been practising Arsenal for most of the second half and all of a sudden he had a few more letters to engrave. Gunner fans will also debate the use of television technology from a different standpoint in the morning. But it was Owen who made the difference. Arsenal will look back on the game and remember the missed chances. They had looked good throughout the game but the alarm bells had sounded, and even though Liverpool were behind they never gave up hope.
Remember Martin Keown's goal-saving tackle on Owen. The warning wasn't heeded. And having defended so well for the majority of the game, give Owen the opportunities and you get punished. Perhaps that's what Arsenal will remember from the game - a fantastic Cup final.
