Non-league Dagenham & Redbridge were denied the biggest shock of the FA Cup third round - on a day of scares for Premiership sides.

The Nationwide Conference side - rated 10,000/1 by the bookies to win the cup - were on the verge of a famous win at The Valley.

Junior McDougald stunned the Premiership side just before half time when he put the Daggers 1-0 up.

Charlton increased the pressure on the part-timers after the break but Dagenham still looked set to win.

That was until John Salako equalised for Charlton in the 86th minute following a lengthy injury stoppage. Match report

But while Dagenham were held to a draw another non-league outfit, Kingstonian, are through to the fourth round after a fine 1-0 win at Southend United.

The Conference strugglers stunned Southend when Eddie Akuamoah put them ahead at Roots Hall after just eight minutes.

Both teams had a player sent off but it Geoff Chapple's part-timers who held out to win to reach round four for the first time ever. Match report

Yeovil Town went down 2-1 in stoppage time at Bolton Wanderers.

Warren Patmore fired the Nationwide Conference leaders ahead but Bolton were level through John O'Kane on half time.

Yeovil looked good value for a replay until Michael Ricketts hit the winner at the end. Match report

Everton left it late to clinch a 2-1 win at Watford.

The Hornerts broke the deadlock with Tommy Mooney's close range effort midway through the first half.

Stephen Hughes equalised with a great free-kick after Watford's Robert Page had been sent off.

Everton also had Joe-Max Moore sent off for kicking the ball away before Steve Watson's diving header won it in injury time. Match report

Arsenal only scored once in their narrow win against Third Division bottom club Carlisle United at Brunton Park.

Ian Stevens wasted a great chance to put the Cumbrians ahead and they were left to regret the miss when Patrick Vieira set up Sylvain Wiltord who won it for the Gunners. Match report

Tottenham finally claimed their first away win of the season thanks to a late 1-0 victory at Leyton Orient.

The Third Division side were looking comfortable at 0-0 until Gary Doherty popped up in injury time to win it for Spurs. Match report

West Ham disposed of Second Division Walsall 3-2 at Bescot Stadium to allay any fears of an upset.

Frank Lampard put the Hammers ahead before Darren Wrack equalised after being left unmarked in the box. Frederic Kanoute scored two goals after the interval, with Brett Angell getting a consolation. Match report

Morecambe's dreams of knocking out Premiership visitors Ipswich were dashed at Christie Park after goals from Marcus Stewart, Alun Armstrong and Jermaine Wright earned Town a 3-0 win. Match report

Bristol City pulled off a shock 2-0 victory at First Division Huddersfield Town.

Second-half strikes from Simon Clist and Peter Beadle gave Danny Wilson an impressive win. Match report

Holders Chelsea had no problems disposing of Peterborough 5-0, Manchester City edged past Birmingham 3-2 and Leicester overcame York 3-0.

Liverpool had few problems beating Rotherham 3-0 despite Igor Biscan's sending off while Derby saw off West Brom 3-2 at Pride Park and Leeds beat Barnsley 1-0. FA Cup reports
