By Sam Lyon

1305: Right people, that's me done. I have to stop to calm the pulse-rate as much as anything. Hope it all worked out as you hoped in today's Europa League draw - if not, it might be of some comfort to know I'll be back tomorrow morning for another bumper day of Premier League action. Then again, it might not. See ya!

johnsalehprice on Twitter: "Out of Man City v Juventus (Europa League) and Real Madrid v AC Milan (Champions League), which one would you pick as the bigger match?!"
Real Madrid v AC Milan. And it's not even close.

karim1981 on 606: "Loving the fact Liverpool (my team) have a hard group... will make it even sweeter when we lift the trophy in May."

1259: It has been decided, then. Manchester City face one of the undoubted ties of the round against Juventus, but otherwise will feel they have a relatively simple passage through to the last 32, while Liverpool - as predicted by RKW - Bred Pole on 606: at the start - might feel things could have been a little easier for them, given they entered the draw as one of the top seeds. Still, Roy can lead them through the maze can't he? After all, he's got a teensy bit of history in this Europa League malarkey.

Kíllìnghölmê_Clᥠon 606: "Liverpool's Group K isn't so much a "Group of death" as Group of mild bruising..."

Rhyl, North Wales via text: "Manchester City are gonna win the Europa league this year! Blue moon rising!"

BillyIOW on Twitter: "Group J is looking like "the group of death"."

1252: And that, 52 minutes after it started, is the end of the drama. And what drama it was.

Group H: VfB Stuttgart, Getafe, Odense BK, Young Boys

Group L: FC Porto, Besiktas, CSKA Sofia, Rapid Vienna

Group D: Villarreal, Club Brugge, Dinamo Zagreb, PAOK

Group B: Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Rosenborg, Thessaloniki

Group I: PSV Eindhoven, Sampdoria, FC Metalist Kharkiv, Debreceni

Group J: Sevilla, Paris St Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Karpaty Lviv

1248: I won't lie, poor ol' Diego Forlan is having a 'mare, struggling to open the balls, spilling them all over the place. They'll take back his plaque at this rate.

Group E: AZ Alkmaar, Dynamo Kiev, BATE Borisov, FC Sheriff

Group G: Zenit St Peterburg, Anderlecht, AEK Athens, Hadjuk Split

Group K: LIVERPOOL, Steaua Bucharest, Napoli, FC Utretcht

Group C: Sporting, Lille, Levski Sofia, Gent

Group F: CSKA Moscow, Palermo, Sparta Prague, Lausanne-Sport

Group A: Juventus, MANCHESTER CITY, Salzburg, Lech Posnan

1243: Unbearable excitement has gripped the nation.

Group E: AZ Alkmaar, Dynamo Kiev, BATE Borisov

Group A: Juventus, MANCHESTER CITY, Salzburg

Group L: FC Porto, Besiktas, CSKA Sofia

Group J: Sevilla, Paris St Germain, Borussia Dortmund

Group H: VfB Stuttgart, Getafe, Odense BK

Group F: CSKA Moscow, Palermo, Sparta Prague

Group I: PSV Eindhoven, Sampdoria, FC Metalist Kharkiv

Group B: Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Rosenborg

TorreSamK9 on Twitter: "Am I the only one that really doesn't care about Napoli. The odd season ago we beat Real Madrid 5-0 on aggregate. Bring it!"

Group G: Zenit St Peterburg, Anderlecht, AEK Athens

Group D: Villarreal, Club Brugge, Dinamo Zagreb

Group C: Sporting, Lille, Levski Sofia

1234: Ouch for Liverpool fans.

Group K: LIVERPOOL, Steaua Bucharest, Napoli

1232: So, Manchester City paired with Juventus and Liverpool with Steaua Bucharest. Dare I say both of those could have been a bit easier no? Anyway, Guiseppe Bergomi is shuffled off to rest his weary ball-pulling arm, to be replaced by Atletico's Uruguayan hitman Diego Forlan. He gets a commemorative plaque for his troubles - I have absolutely no doubt that will shift last year's Europa League winners' medal off the top shelf of his trophy cabinet and no mistake.

Group J: Sevilla, Paris St Germain

Group B: Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen

Anon via text: "Re: torresque. Would that be the same juventus that Fulham put to the sword?"

Group C: Sporting, Lille

Group E: AZ Alkmaar, Dynamo Kiev

Group D: Villarreal, Club Brugge

Group K: LIVERPOOL, Steaua Bucharest

TopClassCitizen on 606: "We (Man City) can't get Napoli, then - Excellent!"

Group H: VfB Stuttgart, Getafe

Group I: PSV Eindhoven, Sampdoria

Group L: FC Porto, Besiktas

Torresque on 606: "Juve-City will be the match in which City show the rest of Europe that they mean business."

Group G: Zenit St Peterburg, Anderlecht

Group F: CSKA Moscow, Palermo

Group A: Juventus, MANCHESTER CITY

1222: Breakneck speed, this, can't... type... fast enough... Ahem.

Group C: Sporting.

Group B: Atletico Madrid.

Group I: PSV Eindhoven.

Group G: Zenit St Petersburg.

Group K: LIVERPOOL.

Group L: FC Porto.

Group D: Villarreal.

Group J: Sevilla.

1217: Gripping this, isn't it?

Group H: VfB Stuttgart.

Group F: CSKA Moscow.

Group E: AZ Alkmaar.

Group A: Juventus.

1214: We are up and running...

cjwaine on Twitter: "The host? Paul Weller's little brother, isn't it?"

1211: I'm told the young lady hosting today is called Katie Giles. Strangely, the people of 606, at least, are less familiar with the gentleman presenting. Strange.

1209: The first special guest in attendance today is Inter Milan legend Giuseppe Bergomi. Unfortunately, the 'tache has gone BUT the monobrow is still very much in attendance. Awesome. Former Republic of Ireland Ronnie Whelan and a Uefa representative will also be lending their consirable skills to the draw.

1207: Now then, while we wait for the main action to get going - they do love drawing (geddit? drawing?) these things out don't they - here are some facts and figures from our good friends at Infostrada Sports based around their Euro Club Index:
i) FC Porto (8) are the highest ranked team in Pot 1, Liverpool (9) second best, and AZ (66) the lowest.
ii) Lille (18) are the highest ranked club in Pot 2, though Manchester City are expected to overtake the French side by next week. Club Brugge (110) are the lowest.
iii) Borussia Dortmund (51) are the highest ranked in pot 3, Dinamo Zagreb (199) the lowest.
iv) Young Boys (72) are ranked higher than all but three of the clubs in Pot 2 and are the highest ranked in Pot 4. Lausanne Sport, a Swiss second division club, would be the lowest ranked if Infostrada included non top-flight teams in the Euro Club Index.

1203: The presentation is under way in Switzerland - though, sadly, no Melanie Winiger today. Or, you know, Pedro Pinto. Both of whom, obviously, are excellent hosts. I didn't catch the names of our hosts today I'm afraid. I'm sure they'll be wonderful, though, obviously.

clashrock2002 on 606: "RE: 1148 - What about Motherwell?? Although Craig Brown did punch one of the opposition directors, which I'm sure cheered him up!"
Of course, my bad. Motherwell's 'punchy' exit now added.

1159: Let's have a look at the pots then, shall we?

Pot One: Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Sevilla, Porto, Villarreal, CSKA Moscow, PSV Eindhoven, Zenit St Petersburg, Juventus, Sporting, Stuttgart, Alkmaar.

Pot Two: Steaua Bucharest, Lille, Dynamo Kiev, Anderlecht, Bayer Leverkusen, Paris Saint-Germain, Club Brugge, Palermo, Getafe, Besiktas, Manchester City, Sampdoria.

Pot Three: Sparta Prague, AEK Athens, FC Metalist Kharkiv, Levski Sofia, Rosenborg, Salzburg, CSKA Sofia, Odense, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Dinamo Zagreb, BATE Borisov.

Pot Four: Thessaloniki, Rapid Vienna, PAOK, Lech Posnan, Karpaty Lviv, Young Boys, Utrecht, Gent, Lausanne, FC Sheriff, Debreceni, Hajduk Split.

jdgmedia on Twitter: "I wonder if Utrecht's Ricky has his own song. 'There's only one Ricky Van Wolfswinkel' would be an obvious shout."

chrisscribbles on Twitter: "No-one cares about the mickey mouse Europa League. Much rather concentrate on domestic games. (Villa fan in denial)."

1155: "So Sam, just how will this Europa League draw work?" Well, person I've just made up posing a fictitious question, the draw will work thus: a total of 48 clubs, split across four pots, will be drawn into 12 groups of four teams, and two sides from the same association cannot be drawn in the same group. Liverpool are in pot one as one of the top seeds alongside the likes of Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Juventus, while Manchester City are in pot two with Sampdoria, Dynamo Kiev et al.

Arfa the bear on 606: "There are some huge names in the Europa League, no doubt this will be just as exciting as the Champions League. And you could say the quality of football could be better with the players we will see."
I dare say that will garner some forthright opinions too. Nice work.

adamgray50 on Twitter: "At least we have still got (Utrecht's) Ricky Van Wolfswinkel to enjoy."
Great shout.

1148: By the way, I'm told our Europa League draw commentary will start at 1200 BST (see below). Just so you know. I believe it's rolling headlines until then, so still plenty to keep you occupied, though! Anyway, unfortunately, Liverpool and Man City are your lot for British involvement in the draw today following a rather depressing night out for Aston Villa, Celtic, Dundee United, Motherwell and TNS last night. Feel free to use this commentary as a chance to vent your fury obviously.

1145: Right people, give your page a cheeky little manual refresh would you? That way, a magical* box will appear before your very eyes allowing you to listen in to our special Europa League draw audio commentary. Lovely stuff.
* box may not actually be magical.

Spurs spurs via text: "Liverpool were very lucky last night, theyy looked very tired. They're better off out of the Europa League so they can concentrate on the Premier League."

Robsoninho on 606: "Both English sides should look to avoid Napoli from pot 3, they are an ever improving and exciting Italian side and would provide a genuine threat. Them aside I see no problems from pots 3 and 4 so both sides should comfortably progress."

1143: Also awaiting their fate on this fine Friday, of course, are Manchester City. Unlike Liverpool, they enjoyed a pretty comfortable passage through their qualifier against FC Timisoara - and, says manager Roberto Mancini, while the Europa League might not be the Champions League (his words, not mine) this is a competition he really wants to win. To be fair, the Italian's squad is bursting with so much talent, he could do with competing in as many competitions as possible just for the chance to give everyone a go right?

RKW - Bred Pole on 606: "As ever, Liverpool will get the toughest draw - it seems to be a theme at Anfield."

shivamLM on Twitter: "Its a shame we wont be seeing (Trabzonspor's) Alanzinho any more in Europe..."
Isn't it just mate. Endless name-joke material down the U-bend.

1138: That should kick the chat off quite nicely... so why don't you all get going on 606, you can text me on 81111 (UK) or +44 7786200666 (worldwide) with FOOTBALL before your message, or tweet me on that there Twitter. Beautiful.

1135: Yep, in leading Liverpool to victory against Trabzonspor last night, Hodgson equalled Shankly's record of winning his first four European matches in charge of the Merseysiders. Now all Hodgson needs to do is lead the Reds to three league titles, a couple of FA Cups and a series of European adventures culminating in a Uefa Cup victory and he really can sit happily alongside the Anfield great. His pursuit of the latter continues today when he learns Liverpool's opponents in the group stage of the Europa League.

1130: It's official. Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is already as good as the legend that is Bill Shankly. Happy days for the Anfield faithful.
