Bangor City suffered a heavy defeat to Maritimo in their Europa League third qualifying round first leg on Thursday.

The gulf in standards between the Madeiran hosts and the Welsh Premier club were laid bare at Estadio da Madeira.

Valdecir Tcho, Liandro Danilo Dias and Baba Diawara each scored twice with Elias Kanu and Philipe Fidelis also hitting home.

Bangor's goals came in the second half from Nicky Ward and Eddie Jebb.

The visitors also saw Jamie Brewerton sent off for a second yellow card shortly before the end of the opening period.

The second leg takes place at Wrexham on Thursday, 5 August.
