Valencia snap up Zahovic
Zlatko Zahovic
Zahovic scored three times at Euro 2000
Slovenia's Euro 2000 star Zlatko Zahovic has agreed to join Spanish Primera Liga side Valencia from Olympiakos for 5.5m after protracted talks in Athens.

After arriving in Spain for a routine medical Zahovic said: "I'm going to play at a great club that should be at the top every year, and I'm ready to help the team achieve everything possible.

"I'm really keen to show how good I am, but I'm just another member of the squad, and I haven't come as a star."

The 29-year-old scored three times in Slovenia's three games at Euro 2000 after weighing in with nine of their 15 goals during the qualifying campaign.

Last season he fell out with Greek team Olympiakos over contractual arrangements and was banned late in the season after swearing at the club's Italian coach Alberto Bigon.

Valencia had hoped to sign Zahovic from Porto a year ago, but Olympiakos nipped in with a higher bid.
