Tuesday's Champions League review - Bayern humble Juve

Bayern Munich celebrate qualification for the last 32
Bayern Munich's win means Juventus must settle for the Europa League

Bayern Munich produced a superb performance at the Stadio Olimpico to advance to the last 16, thereby condemning Juventus to the Europa League.

BBC Sport rounds up all the action from across Europe in the final round of group games.

GROUP A

Bayern Munich secured a place in the last 16 and eased the pressure on manager Louis van Gaal with a masterful display against Juventus.

Knowing only a win would do, the German giants suffered an early blow when David Trezeguet scored for Juve, who only needed a point.

But keeper Hans-Joerg Butt stepped up to equalise with a penalty after Martin Caceres' foul on Ivica Olic, who then tapped in from close range to put Bayern ahead.

Late goals from Mario Gomez and a peach from substitute Anatoliy Tymoschuk put the gloss on an emphatic 4-1 win.

Juventus, who have only once before failed to make it out of the group stage, must settle for a place in the Europa League.

Bordeaux had already secured top spot, but made it five wins from six with a 1-0 win at Maccabi Haifa, who finished bottom with no points.

GROUP B

CSKA Moscow took the second qualification spot in Group B, as Manchester United finished top.

The Russians needed to post a better result than Wolfsburg managed against United, and while they won 2-1 at Besiktas, the German champions lost 3-1 at home.

Milos Krasic put CSKA ahead shortly before half-time, and though Bobo volleyed in an equaliser, Yevgeny Aldonin scored deep into injury time to snatch victory.

Despite the result, there is some doubt over CSKA's future participation in the competition after two of their players gave positive drugs tests following the 3-3 draw against United at Old Trafford.

GROUP C

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Real Madrid went through to the last 16 as group winners after a 3-1 win at Marseille.

They were joined by AC Milan, despite Leonardo's side only managing a draw at fourth-placed FC Zurich.

Ronaldo's fifth-minute free-kick put Madrid ahead, but Lucho Gonzalez equalised from close range six minutes later and hit the bar with a penalty after Raul Albiol had given the visitors a 2-1 lead.

Ronaldo wrapped up the win with an emphatic finish after an error by keeper Steve Mandanda.

Marseille needed to win to have any hope of pipping Milan, who were in danger of suffering a second defeat by Zurich when Milan Gajic's free-kick gave the Swiss side a first-half lead.

But a below-par Milan escaped with a point thanks to Ronaldinho's penalty.

GROUP D

Chelsea and Porto had already made sure of first and second place before Tuesday's games.

But third place and Europa League qualification was still up for grabs, and it was taken by Atletico Madrid - despite a disappointing 3-0 home defeat by Porto.

Apoel Nicosia needed to win at Chelsea to have any hope of qualifying, and came away with a 2-2 draw.

Atletico conceded twice in the opening 14 minutes, with Bruno Alves and Falcao on target, before Hulk completed the Spanish side's misery.
