Sabrosa offers Barcelona ultimatum
Simao Sabrosa
Sabrosa started just 12 games for Barcelona last year
Barcelona's 10m misfit Simao Sabrosa has said he would rather leave the club than spend another season on the sidelines.

The Portuguese winger was given just 12 league starts by former coach Louis van Gaal after he signed him from Sporting Lisbon last season.

Sabrosa said he had received no word from van Gaal's caretaker replacement Llorenc Serra Ferrer about his chances of getting into the team this season.

But the 20-year-old warned he won't settle for another year of frustration.

"I'm not going to stand another year like the last one. I'm still young and if it's going to be the same story I'd rather go to another club and play."

Simao, who was left out of Portugal's squad for Euro 2000, said he would consider a move back to his former club.

"At Sporting Lisbon the people know me and they want me to go back and enjoy my football," he said.

But another of of van Gaal's signings from last year has said he will stay at the Nou Camp and fight for his place.

French defender Frederic Dehu has been linked with a 3.75m move to Lyon, but insists he is going nowhere, despite starting just nine league games for Barcelona.

"I want to stay and I have a contract, although you never know what's going to happen," he said..

"My intention is to stay and demonstrate my quality. I couldn't do that last year as I didn't play very much, but I can do a lot better."
