Barcelona's Lionel Messi may miss Inter Milan game

Lionel Messi is a doubt for Barcelona's Champions League clash at home to Inter Milan on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old is undergoing tests on a thigh injury suffered in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao.

The striker's injury could not have come at a worse time for Barca, who also face Real Madrid next Saturday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Yaya Toure and Eric Abidal are currently out but manager Pep Guardiola insists: "We will play with what we have."

Guardiola is also awaiting news on the fitness of defender Rafael Marquez, who has undergone tests for swine flu, the virus that has hit Toure and Abidal.

Speaking about Messi's chances of playing, Guardiola said: "The initial feelings are not too good to be honest.

"I'm sure that he feels sad, nobody likes to be injured."

Barca defender Dani Alves, who scored against Bilbao in the 54th minute before the home side levelled through Gaizka Toquero, said it would be a blow to lose Messi.

"It's bad news because he is an important piece for us, although we must wait to know the extent of the injury," he said.

Barca's draw in Bilbao saw them lose top spot in La Liga to Madrid, who beat Racing Santander.
