Eastwood was introduced to the players ahead of the match
American movie legend Clint Eastwood brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to Olympique Lyon's match against Sochaux.
The Oscar-winning actor and director, 79, was the French First Division leaders' guest of honour on Saturday.
Eastwood, 79, was in Lyon to receive an award for his contribution to cinema from French director Bertrand Tavernier at the city's film festival.
His presence failed to inspire the Ligue 1 leaders, however, as Sochaux won 2-0 at Stade Municipal de Gerland.
Goals by Jacques Faty and Sloan Privat condemned Lyon Lyon to their first defeat of the season in any competition.
Eastwood, famed for his roles in the Dirty Harry series of films, was introduced on the pitch ahead of the game and performed a ceremonial kick-off in heavy rain.
He also was presented with an Olympique shirt with his name on it.
The big screen icon is sponsoring the first edition of Lyon's film festival which runs from 13-18 October.
