2232: What a night. I'll say that again. What a night. Thanks a huge amount for all the chat tonight. It's been epic. But get to bed now because in less than 24 hours we go again with Chelsea looking to make it a hat-trick of English wins against Olympiakos.

2228: FULL-TIME Sevilla 3-2 Fenerbahce (agg 5-5) AET
Fenerbahce reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in their history. Sevilla were in the driving seat when they took a 2-0 and 3-1 lead in the second leg but Fenerbahce keeper Volkan Demirel makes up for a couple of first-half howlers by saving three penalties in the decisive shoot-out.

MISS Sevilla 2-3 Fenerbahce (Volkan saves from Alves)

2216: The Sevilla-Fenerbahce featured a remarkable 35 shots. Fenerbahce keeper Volkan Demirel - who made two calamitous mistakes to gift Sevilla two goals - could end up the hero...

2215: "Last match for Maldini in Europe. Really wished he would have gotten a better send-off but I salute a true legend of the European and world game. Congratulations to Arsenal."
redandblackT1899 on 606

2214: Free-kick for Sevilla but Dani Alves sticks it straight into the wall - penalties it is.

2209: I'm sensing penalties at Sevilla - which almost certainly means someone will score a last-gasp winner.

2203: Of course, AC Milan's defeat brings the curtain down on Paolo Maldini's illustrious Champions League career. The Italian legend, who will retire at the end of the season, will have to be content with just the five winners' medals and 109 appearances.

2201: "This is a dream come true. To win in Milan 2-0, it is amazing. William Gallas said before the game enjoy the atmosphere. That is what we did. But this is just the beginning. We are now in the quarter-finals but we have not done anything. It is just one more step."
Arsenal matchwinner Cesc Fabregas

2200: The second half of extra-time is under way at the Sanchez Pizjuan as both these teams look to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time.

2155: Lots of niggly fouls in the Sevilla-Fenerbahce game but not much else to tell you about. Plenty of players on bookings walking the proverbial tightrope, but no red cards yet... And it's half-time in extra-time.

2151: PLAYER OF THE DAY
No competition really. Arsenal's brilliant midfielder Cesc Fabregas takes the honours on a whopping 8.90. I read somewhere that he had been looking tired recently. Well, he must have had the mother of all sleeps since the weekend. Manchester United match-winner Cristiano Ronaldo gets top marks at Old Trafford with 8.06. You can still vote though.

2149: I know what you want to know. When's the quarter-final draw? Friday 14 March. Huge. And we could get Manchester United v Arsenal.

2147: "One of the finest European performances I've ever seen from Arsenal. Milan are without a doubt a shadow of the side they were but Arsenal bossed the game from start to finish. Great strike from Fabregas, worthy of winning any game!"
dougeh on 606

2142: Arsenal's win is the first by an English side against AC Milan at the San Siro. Milan fail in their bid to reach a sixth successive Champions League quarter-final. All in all, a stunning victory for Arsenal - especially when you consider their recent performances.

2137: FULL-TIME AC Milan 0-2 Arsenal (agg 0-2)
What a performance from Arsene Wenger's side. Having soaked up some early pressure from the hosts, they stamped their authority on the match - Cesc Fabregas the outstanding player. Goals from the Spaniard and Emmanuel Adebayor put Arsenal into the quarter-finals.

2135: FULL-TIME Barcelona 1-0 Celtic (agg 4-2)
Xavi's early goal seals it for Barcelona. Celtic never really threatened to cause an upset.

2135: FULL-TIME Sevilla 3-2 Fenerbahce (agg 5-5)
Extra time in a thriller at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

2134: GOAL AC Milan 0-2 Arsenal (agg 0-2)
Fabulous goal. Theo Walcott skips past Kakha Kaladze and gets to the byeline. His cross is slid home by Emmanuel Adebayor.

2133: Added time at the San Siro.

2132: FULL-TIME Man Utd 1-0 Lyon (agg 2-1)
A nervy second-half at Old Trafford but Cristiano Ronaldo's goal puts United into the quarter-finals.

2130: Into added time at Old Trafford.

2128: "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!"
The Voice of Reason on 606

An Arsenal fan I reckon

2126: GOAL AC Milan 0-1 Arsenal (agg 0-1)
Can you believe it? AC Milan pay a high price for backing off and allowing Cesc Fabregas to shoot from 25 yards. His precise low shot finds the corner and with six minutes remaining, the Gunners are closing in on a famous win.

2121: GOAL Sevilla 3-2 Fenerbahce (agg 5-5)
This is why we ruddy love the Champions League. The Turks have pounded away in the second half and they get their reward for persistence. A free-kick drifts to the back post, that man Deivid sneaks in, clips a shot against the post and reacts quickest to the rebound and tucks the ball home. All level on away goals so extra time looms...

2120: Less than 10 minutes to go at Old Trafford, a bit more than that at the San Siro and the Nou Camp.

2119: "I've gone from enjoying this Man Utd performance to feeling really edgy... Bring on Scholes now!!"
Spencer, Watford, via text on 81111

2118: "Re 2109: If Greg's baby looks like Ian Holloway, then I'd say the Leicester manager has some questions to answer!"
Chris via text on 81111

2116: Theo Walcott is in... He opts to cross instead of shoot and the chance goes by. Difficult angle but he should have shot.

2114: Theo Walcott replaces Emmanuel Eboue for Arsenal. At Old Trafford, Wayne Rooney collects a woeful back pass but his shot is saved.

2113: A massive scare for Manchester United as Lyon substitute Kader Keita's low shot cannons back off the base of the post.

2111: AC Milan make their first change. Pippo Inzaghi off, Alberto Gilardino on. And at Old Trafford, Carlos Tevez is on for Anderson.

2109: Well folks, we've got our first live text commentary baby. Aw. Here's Greg (see 2030): "7lbs 4oz - she looks like Ian Holloway!!! Called Danielle rather than Ronaldo though."

2104: Barcelona midfielder Ronaldinho plays a one-two with Samuel Eto'o before unleashing a shot from 20 yards - but Celtic keeper Artur Boruc is equal to it.

2101: Alessandro Nesta is hobbling about like an old man in the AC Milan defence and he's even got one leg of his shorts rolled up just so we can see the strapping. The veteran Italian moves a bit quicker though as he's called on to stem an Arsenal attack.

2100: It's theoretically possible for all four games to go to extra time. Very theoretical in the case of the Barcelona-Celtic game though.

2055: Milan striker Pippo Inzaghi sees yellow for moaning about not winning a corner. It was a corner too.

2051: AC Milan's Andrea Pirlo gives the ball away right in front of goal. Emmanuel Adebayor plays in Emmanuel Eboue but he screws his shot hopelessly wide.

2049: What a chance for Arsenal. A cross finds its way to Philippe Senderos at the far post but he shoots straight at the keeper from close range.

2049: The game at Old Trafford is under way very promptly. The others are a little more relaxed but we're up and away everywhere now.

2042: "Re 2030: Me too! Good luck! Hope your missus is less narky than mine. What's wrong with calling a girl Ronaldo?"
Nick via text on 81111

2038: Player of the first half according to the wise voters on BBC Sport's interactive Player Rater is... Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas on 8.46. He's edging out Manchester United goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo. Why not have a dabble? It's free you know.

2032: HALF-TIME Barcelona 1-0 Celtic (agg 4-2)
Xavi's early goal puts Barcelona almost out of reach - but they've lost Lionel Messi to injury.

2032: HALF-TIME Sevilla 3-1 Fenerbahce (agg 5-4)
Good stuff at the Sanchez Pizjuan too. Sevilla in front but one goal from Fenerbahce could change everything.

2031: HALF-TIME AC Milan 0-0 Arsenal
A breathtaking first half comes to an end with no goals. Arsenal really came back into it after a shaky start and hit the bar through Cesc Fabregas.

2030: HALF-TIME Man Utd 1-0 Lyon (agg 2-1)
Cristiano Ronaldo's 30th goal of the season puts United in control.

2030: "Can you update the commentary quicker please? I'm waiting for my first baby to be born and I'm getting bored now."
Greg via text on 81111
A remarkable text. Truly remarkable.

2026: GOAL Man Utd 1-0 Lyon (agg 2-1)
Wes Brown - making his 50th Champions League appearance - crosses from the right and though Anderson's shot is blocked, Cristiano Ronaldo picks up the rebound, makes space for the shot and slams the ball home. That's 30 goals in 30 games for Ronaldo. Unbelievable.

2025: GOAL Sevilla 3-1 Fenerbahce (agg 5-4) Fredi Kanoute puts the Spaniards ahead on aggregate once more, the former Tottenham and West Ham hitman chesting down a ball into the box and seeing his right-foot shot go into the far corner via a massive deflection off Edu.

2023: For the second time tonight, Roberto Rosetti - the referee at Old Trafford - drops his cards on the pitch. Apropos of nothing, I can tell you that the Italian official enjoys reading, watching movies and playing tennis in his spare time. So we've all learnt something tonight.

2020: Lionel Messi is in tears as he limps off the pitch at the Nou Camp. The brilliant Argentine appears to have injured his hamstring - not for the first time. Thierry Henry is on. Not a bad replacement. Celtic are not showing any sign of recovery I'm afraid.

2019: What a game at the San Siro. Emmanuel Adebayor picks out Cesc Fabregas on the edge of the area but the midfielder clips the crossbar with his measured shot. AC Milan are struggling to cope with the Adebayor-Fabregas combination.

2018: Arsenal midfielder Alex Hleb looks ready to explode. And I can see why. He's booked for a dive - despite replays showing he is fouled just outside the area. He's seething.

2015: "Lyon are dangerous when going forward... Problem is they rarely can get out of their own half!"
BergyDaLegend on 606

2014: Lyon midfielder Kim Kallstrom drills in a ferocious shot from the edge of the penalty area but it's beaten away by Edwin van der Sar. A warning for United.

2012: Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor cuts in from the right and unleashes a vicious shot which keeper Zeljko Kalac does brilliantly to tip over.

2010: "I've spent the last few minutes watching Kaka. The Arsenal players are just not aware of where he is. He's running the game."
BBC 5 Live analyst Graham Taylor

2004: GOAL Sevilla 2-1 Fenerbahce (agg 4-4)
Deivid pulls one back for the visitors in their first real spell of pressure. Sevilla fail to clear their lines from a corner from the left and the Brazilian rifles in a low shot from 12 yards. Game on.

2003: Kaka shows his class, picking the ball up just outside his own box, sidestepping Cesc Fabregas and driving into the opposition half. His cross finds Alexandre Pato completely unmarked in the box but the striker shoots straight at the keeper. A moment later, Philippe Senderos heads into the path of Pippo Inzaghi, but Gael Clichy spares the defender's blushes with a saving tackle.

2001: Lyon are defending deep at Old Trafford, allowing United plenty of possession. The hosts are starting to get on top.

1959: Milan striker Pippo Inzaghi shoots too close to the keeper. It's a lively start at the San Siro.

1958: Fabulous break from Arsenal. Emmanuel Adebayor lays the ball off for Abou Diaby but he sidefoots wide. "He should have hit the target," says Graham Taylor on BBC 5 Live.

1953: GOAL Sevilla 2-0 Fenerbahce (agg 4-3)
It's another total disaster from Volkan Demirel in the Turkish side's goal, with Seydou Keita slamming in a shot from long-range that swerves a touch, but the keeper's attempt to keep it out is abysmal and the ball flies past him into the net.

1953: Arsenal made a promising start but suddenly they're under the cosh. Cesc Fabregas clears a corner off the line and then William Gallas has to make a last-ditch headed clearance.

1950: GOAL Sevilla 1-0 Fenerbahce (agg 3-3)
Daniel Alves levels things up on aggregate in the Sanchez Pizjuan with a strike from 25 yards that produces a shocking error from the visiting keeper Volkan Demirel, who tamely punches the ball into his own net. Howler. Sevilla go through on away goals as it stands.

1948: GOAL Barcelona 1-0 Celtic (agg 4-2)
Now it's an Everest-sized task for Gordon Strachan's boys. Ronaldinho plays one of those passes where he puts the ball one way while looking the other, Silvinho provides the cross and it's not clear who gets the final touch but Xavi gets the nod for now.

1946: Ba ba ba baaaaaaa. That was the Champions League anthem to signify we're up and away in tonight's four games.

1943: "Who are we to doubt Fergie? If he thinks youthful exuberance is the way to beat Lyon then, well, he's probably right."
Anon via text on 81111

1935: "Re 1919: The second highest mountain is K2, in the Karakoram. it's a lot harder than Everest and has a death rate many times higher."
Knotlow from Cheshire, via text on 81111
Glad we've cleared that up

1931: The stats don't look all that pretty for Lyon either by the way. Manchester United won all their group games at home, conceding only one goal. They've never lost to French opposition in European competiton at Old Trafford. But Lyon do like to travel. They've won twice on the road in the Champions League - and on Saturday, maintained top spot in the French League with an away win at Lille.

1926: "The drum beat of Queen's 'We Will Rock You' engulfs the San Siro and Carlo Ancellotti's men come tearing out of the tunnel, led by a rampaging Rino Gattuso. It's a bitterly cold, wet and windy night in Milan."
BBC Sport's David Ornstein in Milan

1920: Let's get this stat out of the way now (Celtic fans look away now). Celtic have never won away in the Champions League. Barcelona have won all their home games in the Champions League this season.

1919: Gordon Strachan, what a card eh? Asked if beating Barcelona at the Nou Camp was as big a challenge as climbing Everest, the wee man said: "I don't know. I'm not sure what the second highest mountain in the world is called, but it's a good climb anyway... and a few people have died trying to climb it."

1915: FULL TEAM NEWS Man Utd v Lyon
Manchester United make six changes from the side that beat Fulham 3-0 on Saturday with Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Anderson, Nemanja Vidic, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher all back in the starting line-up. Lyon club captain Cris plays after returning from a long-term knee ligament injury on Saturday but former Newcastle defender Jean-Alain Boumsong is left on the bench.

1914: "I hope Fabregas and Adebayor get back to the form they were in a few weeks ago and then Arsenal will have a chance."
BBC 5 Live analyst Graham Taylor

1910: FULL TEAM NEWS AC Milan v Arsenal
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger opts for Emmanuel Adebayor as a lone front man, with Theo Walcott dropping to the bench. Alexander Hleb will push up in support of Adebayor, while fit-again Robin van Persie is a substitute. Abou Diaby stays in the side, while Emmanuel Eboue - who is serving a domestic ban - returns on the right side of midfield. AC Milan call on Fifa World Player of the Year Kaka, who has recovered from a knee injury, but Clarence Seedorf misses out with a hamstring strain.

1908: Mixed reaction from United fans about tonight's line-up. But it is almost the same team that beat Arsenal 4-0 in the FA Cup - with the exception of Cristiano Ronaldo replacing Ji-Sung Park, which isn't a bad swap really.

1902: FULL TEAM NEWS Barcelona v Celtic
Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito is out with illness so Lilian Thuram comes in, while Silvinho replaces Eric Abidal at left-back, Yaya Toure and Deco are recalled and Lionel Messi returns instead of Thierry Henry. Celtic bring in Mark Wilson at right-back, while Paul Hartley comes in for Scott McDonald as they revert to a 4-5-1.

1901: "Weirdly, I predicted the exact Man Utd line-up earlier today. It's energetic and remember Fletch was man of the match in the Roma game last year."
Matt in Aberdeen via text on 81111

1859: "Tevez should definitely be deserving a start! I like Fletcher don't get me wrong but him over Scholes? And no Tevez? What are we saving Carlos for now? Derby???"
club_djemba_djemba on 606

1854: Anyone else a bit surprised by that Manchester United line-up? No Tevez, Scholes, Giggs, Hargreaves...

1852: TEAM NEWS Celtic
The Celtic team to face Barcelona at the Nou Camp: Boruc, Wilson, Caldwell, McManus, Naylor, Nakamura, S Brown, Hartley, Donati, McGeady, Vennegoor of Hesselink

1849: TEAM NEWS Man Utd
Line-up to play Lyon: Van der Sar, Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson, Ronaldo, Rooney, Nani

1847: "Today I am doing the unheard, I am a man multi-tasking! I am paying attention to my beloved Arsenal in the Champions League, and I am also doing a paper on America's transition between 1929-1990. Come on Arsenal!!"
theothefuture on 606

1844: "Bit nervous about Diaby. He had a bit of a shocker last Saturday!"
Anon via text on 81111

1837: TEAM NEWS Arsenal
No hanging around. Here's the Arsenal team to face AC Milan at the San Siro: Almunia, Sagna, Gallas, Senderos, Clichy, Eboue, Flamini, Fabregas, Diaby, Hleb, Adebayor.

1830: I heard the theme tune to 80s/90s quiz show Going for Gold earlier today and it's been stuck in my head ever since. Somehow it seems appropriate now... The heat is on, the time is right, as Arsenal, Celtic and Manchester United look to book their places in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. (Not the original lyrics by the way.)
