Player rater: Who thought Rangers would win tonight and would have the star player of the night? Daniel Cousin just has the edge on fellow goalscorer Lee McCulloch with a mark of 8.37. You rank Cesc Fabregas as Arsenal's best player and Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo as their pick.
AS THE GROUPS STAND
Group E: Barcelona are top on goal difference from Rangers. The pair go head-to-head over the next two rounds at Ibrox on Tuesday 23 October and the Nou Camp in the first week of November.

Group G: Fenerbahce lead the way on four points ahead of Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven on three.
Group H: The Premiership's top guns are also top of their group, as they were at the start of the evening. Arsenal host Slavia Prague in three weeks.
2140: And be sure to stay across the BBC Sport website and BBC Radio 5live for all the reaction from the games involving Arsenal, Manchester United and Rangers.

2136: FULL-TIME Steaua Bucharest 0-1 Arsenal
Like United, one goal is enough for the Gunners and means all three British teams maintain their 100% records in the Champions League after two rounds with no goals conceded tonight.
"Remember there are no bad teams in the Champions League. Great away win for Arsenal, go in, get a result, go home. Save the pretty stuff for the Emirates."
NatuzziGooner on 606
2135: GOAL Sevilla 4-2 Slavia Prague
A late consolation for Slavia and David Kalivoda, but that's all it is. The Czechs face Arsenal next.
2134: FULL-TIME Manchester United 1-0 Roma
As has been the case for United for much of the season, one goal is enough, but it was a nice goal.
"Feels nice to be top of the group. Overall some good and some bad, we played the best football and the goal was sublime."
jam3sm on 606
2133: FULL-TIME Lyon 0-3 Rangers
The result of the night. Barcelona are next up for Rangers, who are second in Group E behind the Spaniards.
"Rangers have carried a bit of luck but we've made our own luck. Ferguson has proven in recent weeks he is a top-class footballer. Great team performance all round. The French must hate the sight of Scottish teams. Bring on Barca." Stevie, in Bathgate, via text on 81111
2132: Arsenal keeper Manuel Almunia is urging his team-mates to keep calm as they navigate their way through the final moments. What's that Steaua boss Massimo Pedrazzini can feel on his neck?
2130: Manchester United may have to see out time down to 10 men as Cristiano Ronaldo needs treatment to a head injury with the three changes already made.
2128: Roma substitute Esposito slams a low shot wide of the Manchester United goal.
2124: Rangers keeper Allan McGregor makes a wonderful save tipping over a drive and from the corner Cleber Anderson hits the bar. It is just not Lyon's night.
2123: The ball's pinging about the Manchester United box, but no black-shirted Roma man can make the telling touch in a scramble.
2122: Still nervy times for English duo Arsenal and Manchester United as they protect slender one-goal leads.
2121: Lyon have competely run out of ideas against Rangers.
"Typical English football, Play just-above-average football for about hour and get a winner in the 75th minute. Typical! Like I said."
MrKnowItAll7 on 606
2118: About 15 minutes to go and all three British sides are on course to maintain their 100% records. Nice.
2117: GOAL Steaua Bucharest 0-1 Arsenal
Robin van Persie breaks the deadlock with a rasping, placed drive into the roof of the Steaua net from Emmanuel Adebayor's pull back on the left.
2114: Steaua's Banel Nicolita plays in Victoras Jacob, but the substitute makes a complete and utter mess of the chance, shooting over.
2113: GOAL Manchester United 1-0 Roma
Michael Carrick to Nani to Wayne Rooney in the box on the right. The United number 10 sweeps home a crisp finish for his first goal of the season.
2112: GOAL Sevilla 4-1 Slavia Prague
Sevilla are on easy street as Arouna Kone slots their fourth after being slipped through one-on-one with Martin Vaniak.
2111: Lyon's Juninho's hits the Rangers woodwork for the second time. HIs shot from outside the box rebounds off Alan McGregor's left post.
2110: Cristiano Ronaldo backheels the ball in the net for Manchester United after racing on to Wayne Rooney's clipped pass, but the flag is up.
2109: GOAL VfB Stuttgart 0-2 Barcelona
Lionel Messi is on fire this season and scores his seventh in as many games after collecting Thierry Henry's cutback.
2107: RED CARD Inter Milan
Inter have had less of the ball than PSV Eindhoven and have had fewer shots on goal. And now the Italians will have to see out time with fewer men as Cristian Chivu is sent off for a second bookable offence. Good job the Serie A leaders are 2-0 up.
2106: Wayne Rooney cuts in from the Manchester United left, but his low shot is pushed wide by Gianluca Curci. Roma easily cope with the corner.
2104: That makes it 17 goals tonight, but still none for the English teams. Will they get any?
2102: GOAL Sevilla 3-1 Slavia Prague
That should wrap up the points for Sevilla as Julien Escude scores their third with a header from Keita's corner.
2100: Madness from the Arsenal keeper now. Manuel Almunia comes out of his area to head clear but his effort goes straight to Nicolae Dica. Fortunately for the Gunners the ever-alert Kolo Toure is on hand to cover and clear off the line.
2058: Steaua stopper Robinson Zapata is in a right old flap as he attempts to clear a Cesc Fabregas free-kick. With the keeper coming out, any touch from Emmanuel Adebayor would have given Arsenal the lead.
2055: GOAL VfB Stuttgart 0-1 Barcelona
More goals in Group E and Barca skipper Carles Puyol breaks the deadlock in Germany with a stabbed effort from close range after a muddle in the home defensive ranks.
2054: GOAL Lyon 0-3 Rangers
Absolutely remarkable. Rangers on the counter and DaMarcus Beasley slots after latching on to a throughball from Daniel Cousin.
"Rangers - be careful. We all know what happened when Villa led by three goals yesterday."zainlin on 606
2051: A great chance for Roma, but Francesco Totti's touch on Ludovic Giuly's cross is slightly hard and takes him too wide to swivel and hit the target from the right.
2050: GOAL Lyon 0-2 Rangers
Well, that has checked any Lyon comeback and stunned the home support in France. Alan Hutton breaks down the right and his cross is collected by Daniel Cousin. After a wonderful first touch he turns and fires into the roof of the net.
2049: Lyon come out of the blocks well and Juninho lashes a shot wide from outside the box.
2047: Things are back up and running. If there is no change in the games in Group E Rangers will end the day on top. Sweet.
Player rater: Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo is your player of the first half from the 33 players on show for British teams, although as 10 of the Rangers 11 have yet to pick up a vote that surely won't last until the final whistle.
"I'm starting to worry a bit. I think Sir Alex Ferguson needs to stick Giggs and Tevez on for Carrick and Saha and maybe go 4-3-3. That's not a move I consider because of panic but because I think it's gonna take some individual brilliance to break down this Roma defence; they seem really solid so far."
Reddevilyardie on 606
"It's a joke that Davie Weir can't get that yellow rescinded. I've lost quite a lot of respect for Juninho after that. Mon the Gers!"
Bob McInroy, in Glasgow, via text on 81111
"You don't beat teams like Steaua Bucharest by playing 'beautiful football'. You beat them by grinding out the result and nicking a goal or two on the break. They are a physical team as most Eastern European teams are! Be patient!"
rockin_van_persie on 606
Kind of alright for British sides. At least none of the three are trailing, even if Arsenal and Manchester United are less than convincing.
2029: An outrageous dive from Juninho and a free-kick to Lyon outside the box. This is the Brazilian's speciality and after throwing himself to the turf he curls his deadball delivery on to the bar. Rangers clear. David Weir wrongly got a booking for Juninho's amateur dramatics.
2026: No doubts about that save from Robinson Zapata. The Steaua man beats away a rising shot from Mathieu Flamini at his near post.
2025: Have Arsenal scored? Gael Clichy's cross into the box is deflected towards goal but Robinson Zapata manages to keep it out... just.
"I thought that was a goal. Of course, I'm not exactly unbiased!"

2024: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 1-2 Sporting
Sporting are back in front with Anderson Polga scoring with a shot through a crowded box.
2023: Roma's Philippe Mexes is booked for a rash challenge on Wayne Rooney. Michael Carrick shoots well over.
2022: Kim Kallstrom has another pop from distance for Lyons. His effort fizzes wide of the Rangers goal.
2020: Arsenal look to be beginning to find their rhythm and are asserting their authority on niggly Steaua Bucharest opponents who aren't shy in clipping ankles and giving a few digs in close contact.
2019: It is nearly all Lyon at the Stade Gerland, but they can't get close to the Rangers goal. Pregnant with purpose, but no end product in the danger area.
2017: Wayne Rooney catches Nani's cross on the half volley but hammers a humdinger of a shot over the Roma bar. Better from Manchester United.
2016: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 1-1 Sporting
Vladislav Vashchuk squares things up for the Ukranians after latching on to Goran Gavrancic's backheel in the area.
2015: GOAL Inter Milan 2-0 PSV Eindhoven
Zlatan Ibrahimovic gets his second of the night with a looping header from Luis Figo's cross.
2012: GOAL Sevilla 2-1 Slavia Prague
The Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan is the place to be for goals. Luis Fabiano scores after good work by Frederic Kanoute.
2009: Manchester United are beginning to build some sort of a head of steam, but still no serious threat for Roma to deal with. What has gone wrong with United's attack?
2007: GOAL Lyon 0-1 Rangers
Lee McCulloch climbs high to meet DaMarcus Beasley's corner to slot with a header at the near post. It's his first Champions League goal in his first Champions League game and Gers are making life in a group with Lyon, Stuttgart and Barcelona look easy.
2006: The best moment for Manchester United, but Cristiano Ronaldo heads over from Nani's cross.
"Your updates are as sluggish as the United attack."
Mike, from Carrick, via text on 81111
2005: GOAL Sevilla 1-1 Slavia Prague
All square in Spain as Daniel Pudil draws Slavia level.
2004: Nicolae Dica's shot skips off the turf and wide of the Arsenal goal, with Manuel Almunia at full stretch.
"Arsenal's play is very lifeless and Boltonese."
gunner-rossmcd on 606
2000: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 0-1 Sporting
Like Steaua, Dynamo have also had a change of coach since the first round of games, but Josef Szabo hasn't managed to change their fortunes on the pitch tonight. Tonel scores for Sporting.
1959: GOAL Inter Milan 1-0 PSV Eindhoven
Having lost their first game the Italian champions are under a bit of pressure but get the perfect start. Former Liverpool player Jan Kromkamp fouls Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the box and the Swede steps up to slot from the spot.
1957: Lyon are having the better of the game against Rangers, but have still to seriously test Allan McGregor in the visiting goal.
1955: GOAL Sevilla 1-0 Slavia Prague
A first goal of the night and a first goal in the Champions League proper for Sevilla. Frederic Kanoute is forced wide on the right by keeper Martin Vaniak and slots with a lofted effort after mistakes in the visiting defence.
1952: An immediate chance for Arsenal to get the opener at the other end, but Cesc Fabregas balloons Alexander Hleb's cross high over the bar.
1951: Steaua Bucharest have the ball in the back of the Arsenal net but it is ruled out for offside off Ionut Rada's head.
1950: Francesco Totti has the first shot of the night at Old Trafford from 25 yards, but Tomasz Kuszczak gets down confidently to collect.
1949: Manchester United look to be a touch more direct than in recent outings when they have been pretty sluggish in attack.
1947: Alexander Hleb, who has made some sort of miracle recovery, puts in a low cross but the ball just won't fall for Robin van Persie on the edge of the six-yard box. Wasn't Hleb unable to walk or something after being nobbled by Mark Noble at the weekend?
1946: Easy does it openings with Arsenal, Manchester United and Rangers getting a good feel of the ball.
1945: All seven games are up and running.
1941: Here come the teams. No full house yet at Old Trafford. There are also empty seats in Bucharest.
1940: Just the seven games to keep an eye on tonight as CSKA Moscow and Fenerbahce have already shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in the Russian capital. If you want uninterrupted coverage of any of the British teams try one of the links below...
1939 Manchester United and Roma is where BBC Radio 5live are tonight. Alan Green, Mike Ingham and Mark Lawrenson are at 'The Theatre of Dreams' and you can listen on 693 or 909 MW, digital radio or the BBC Sport website.
1938: Italian midfielder Simone Perrotta had the good fortune to miss that outing at what must have felt like 'The Theatre of Nightmares' for Roma players and fans but is relishing the chance to play their after injury as he was born just eight miles up the road in Ashton-under-Lyme. His father was a United fan.
1936: Coach Luciano Spalletti has confidence in his team's ability to put last April behind them and has played down talk of "revenge or vendetta". He is instead pinning his hopes to destiny instead: "After last time we said there weren't six goals between us and destiny has given us the chance to show that."
"United to beat Roma 2-1. I watched Roma against Juve the other week. They weren't brilliant and drew 2-2. We don't have the strike power to nail them 7-1 again and I have a feeling that Roma will play harder and faster this time."
Martyn405 on 606
1934: You can add into that mix the fact that Roma's last Champions League away game was a 7-1 mauling at Old Trafford to Manchester United, who have now won their last six matches at home in the competition.
1933: Manchester United have won their last five Premier League games without conceding, and did likewise in their opening Champions League match on the road in Portugal against Sporting - although there was that Carling Cup defeat to Coventry which blotted their copybook.
1931: That's where the good news ends for the Giallorossi. The Dynamo match was their fifth victory in a row without conceding, but since then they haven't won. Two 2-2 draws preceded a 4-1 weekend defeat at Inter which saw them drop from first to fourth in Serie A.
1930: While Lyon and Steaua Bucharest lost the opening games of their Champions League campaigns, Roma won and actually go into the second round of games top of Group F on goal difference from Manchester United.
"No Hargreaves. Quite surprised he aint even on the bench. Should be a united win."
PunjabiMunda on 606
1928: It is not all bad news for Steaua Bucharest. Massimo Pedrazzini oversaw a weekend win in his debut match as boss. That was the club's first victory in five, but was their 12th game at home without a defeat.
1927: Arsenal have not lost since April and have not conceded a goal in 435 minutes, but manager Arsene Wenger isn't getting carried away. "A real team must achieve something together. We are a team who are miles away from having done that," the Frenchman has said.
1925: Steaua have not kept a clean sheet in the Champions League in more than a decade and 10 games and won one game in the group stage last season. This term they started with a defeat to Slavia Prague.
1924: Massimo Pedrazzini is now feeling Gigi Becali's warm breath on his neck hair and the Italian could be handed a P45 tonight. "If we lose, Pedrazzini will be sacked," said a forthright Becali, who shows an ability to switch between first and third person that is as incredible as anything Hagi ever did with a ball at his feet. "I will always involve myself with the team because I'm spending the money. You can't work with Becali if you don't get results."
"This Becali dude sounds like Romanov at Hearts! He's had more coaches than National Express!"
Ray, New Orleans, via text on 81111
1921: Gheorghe Hagi lasted a little under three months. "I have never been so humiliated. I was tortured second by second," said the Romanian footballing legend. "Nobody will ever achieve anything at Steaua will Becali breathing down his neck. He destroys all smiling." Steaua owner Gigi Becali agreed that he did humuliate Hagi, who he said needed "a good slap to wake him up".
1918: Gigi Becali courts controversy at every turn and has just ditched a big-name manager. Gheorghe Hagi, AKA The Maradona of the Carpathians, was shown the door because he refused to pick the team Becali wanted to see play. Sound familiar?
1916: If you thought Chelsea were in a tangle at the moment, Steaua Bucharest aren't much better. Like the Blues they are off the pace domestically and are at the mercy of a plutocrat.
1915: The bookies aren't giving Steaua Bucharest much of a chance. They have the longest odds of any home side in action tonight at 9/2 - and for good reason.
1912: But if that has checked your belief in Rangers, try this: France 0-1 Scotland. Nobody gave them much of a chance, but less than a month ago Scotland pulled off a formidable result in France with a team that featured four Gers players.
1908: On the flipside, Rangers haven't won away in nine Champions League games, Lyon have had just one home defeat at the Stade Gerland in 19 outings and their opening-round 3-0 reverse at Barcelona was their first in the group stages in three years.
1905: Compare that to Rangers. Domestically they are second and unbeaten in five and have lost just once this season. They are unbeaten in seven Champions League games and last lost in Europe's premier competition when they went down to a single goal against Inter Milan a little over two years ago.
1902: But on closer inspection that beret of success is not sitting at such a jaunty angle as it has in the past. Lyon look less dominant domestically, have not won any of their previous five Champions League matches and last scored a goal in European competition 348 minutes ago - that's fully five hours and 48 minutes! Cheers Royal Drew.
1859: The biggest obstacle to a trio of triumphs looks to be Lyon. The French champions are currently top of Le Championnat with six successive league titles neatly slotted dans la poche de la derriere and are unbeaten at home this season.
"It will definitely be an entertaining evening."

This set of teams bagged 19 goals last time out and there are already three in tonight's early game - CSKA Moscow v Fenerbahce.
"The big question is not can United win, but can Saha stay fit until half-time?"

1852: TEAM NEWS Steaua Bucharest v Arsenal
Alexander Hleb and Emmanuel Adebayor are both fit to start in an Arsenal team that shows one change. Emmaneul Eboue replaces Abou Diaby in midfield.
1849: TEAM NEWS Manchester United v Roma
Louis Saha makes his first Manchester United start since February for the visit of Roma. The Frenchman will partner Wayne Rooney and Nani also comes in with Ryan Giggs and Carlos Tevez dropping to the bench. John O'Shea replaces the injured Wes Brown at right-back and Tomasz Kuszczak starts in goal.
1847: TEAM NEWS Lyon v Rangers
The team news is already rocking and rolling in and first stop Lyon for news of Rangers. Striker Jean-Claude Darcheville has not recovered from a hamstring strain so Daniel Cousin will lead the line. DaMarcus Beasley and Brahim Hemdani come in with Kris Boyd, Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker drop out.
1845: When these 16 teams were all last in action a fortnight ago there were eight positive results, including three wins for Britain's representatives - Arsenal, Manchester United and Rangers.
