Ajax midfielder Edgar Davids is set to be on the sidelines for at least three months after breaking a leg in a friendly against Go Ahead Eagles.
Davids returned to Ajax in January after a spell at Tottenham
The former Dutch international collided with an opponent and the game was abandoned shortly after he was carried off because of fighting in the stands.
An Ajax website statement said: "He has broken the shin bone in his left leg."
In January, Davids, 34, returned to Ajax - where he began his career - following a spell at Tottenham.
He joined Spurs on a free transfer from Inter Milan in August 2005 and he also played for AC Milan, Juventus and Barcelona.
