AS THE GROUPS STAND

Group E: There seems to be no stopping Gerard Houllier's Lyon who followed up their win over Real Madrid by travelling to Bucharest and thumping Steaua 3-0. Real Madrid got their campaign up and running by handing out a drubbing of their own at home to Dynamo Kiev.

Group F: It looks great for Britain at the top as Manchester United sit top of the shop with six points, followed by Celtic after both sides secured slender 1-0 wins over Benfica and FC Copenhagen respectively.

Group G: Arsenal have an early grip on the group after a convincing 2-0 win over 2004 champions FC Porto. CSKA Moscow sit in second after their win over pointless Hamburg.

Group H: AC Milan sit on top of the Group of Draws, despite being held at Lille, as they are the only club to have managed a win so far. AEK Athens got their first goal and first point in a 1-1 draw with Anderlecht.

2136: Manchester United survive a late scare to hold on for a second victory in Group F.

2136: The final whistle goes at the Emirates as Arsenal extend their unbeaten start to life in Group G.

2133: GOAL Steaua Bucharest 0-3 Lyon
Lyon cap a fine night as Karim Benzema drills past Carlos to ensure another three points.

2132: It is all over at Celtic as Gordon Strachan's men earn themselves a vital three points with a 1-0 win.

2130: Quim pulls off a triple save to deny a second Manchester United goal. Darren Flecther, Michael Carrick and Gabriel Heinze also saw their efforts kept out by the under-pressure Quim.

2130: We're into the nervous 90s at Parkhead but Celtic do not look like throwing away their lead as they head to the corners.

2128: Manchester United make two changes with Louis Saha and Wayne Rooney going off and Darren Fletcher coming on along with Alan Smith - his first appearance since breaking his leg in the FA Cup seven months ago.

2122: Jens Lehmann almost hands Porto a lifeline as he fumbles a Bosingwa shot, but the big German gathers second time around.

2120: Thierry Henry is in full flow as he skips past a challenge and tees up Cesc Fabregas who just cannot put the finishing touch.

2118: It is Cristiano Ronaldo free-kick time again, but this time from a position where it seems conceivable he could score. He doesn't.

2115: Fabio Capello makes sure Ruud van Nistelrooy will not be taking the ball home either as he is substituted for Ronaldo, who gets his first run-out since the World Cup finals.

2111: GOAL Real Madrid 5-1 Dynamo Kiev
There is no sentiment at The Bernabeu as Raul is denied his chance of a hat-trick from a hungry Ruud van Nistelrooy who grabs the ball and slots home from the spot.

2109: Dynamo Kiev are reduced to 10 men when Olexandr Shovkovskiy is sent off by Graham Poll for bringing down Ruud van Nistelrooy in the box.

2108: Wayne Rooney gets a glimpse of the goal but his curling effort is easily gathered by Quim.

2104: Celtic keeper Artur Boruc is called to make his first serious save, but at the other end the lively Kenny Miller comes even closer as he fires in a shot that tests Jesper Christiansen.

2104: GOAL Real Madrid 4-1 Dynamo Kiev
Raul is on fire as he rolls back the years in The Bernabeu, latching onto some hesitant defending and beautifully rounding the keeper before slotting into an empty net.

2104: GOAL Benfica 0-1 Man Utd
United are in front as Louis Saha finds space down the channel before cutting inside from the right and smacking a left-foot shot into the top corner, via a slight deflection off Anderson.

2059: GOAL Steaua Bucharest 0-2 Lyon
Lyon's fabulous start to their European campaign is continuing in Bucharest. Tiago adds a second goal for the French side who look headed for top spot in Group E.

2057: Cristiano Ronaldo attempts to score from a free-kick from around 40 yards out. He gives it the big build-up but shoots straight at the wall. Has he ever scored from one of his "trademark" efforts?

2051: GOAL Real Madrid 3-1 Dynamo Kiev
Perhaps Real Madrid are not home and dry yet. Dynamo grab a goal back two minutes after the break through Artem Milevsky.

2049: GOAL Arsenal 2-0 FC Porto
Porto's new boys had not even broken sweat as Arsenal double their lead. William Gallas and Thierry Henry are involved in the build-up and Alexandr Hleb drills in his first European goal for the club.

2048: Obviously Fabio Capello was not impressed by Jose Reyes' goal as the Spaniard is replaced by David Beckham for the second half. Or maybe the Real coach thinks the game is over already.

2046: Porto are not messing around as they chase a 1-0 deficit at the Emirates as they make two changes at half-time. Raul Meireles and Lisandro Lopez are on for Ricardo Costa and Helder Postiga.

2045: After finishing strongly in the first half Celtic are out early at Parkhead for the second half.

2033: HALF-TIME
The half-time whistle goes around the grounds and it has been a promising evening for the home sides. Arsenal and Celtic are ahead through late first-half goals while Manchester United are all square in Benfica.

2030: GOAL Real Madrid 3-0 Dynamo Kiev
Real are running riot at the Bernabeu. Jose Reyes scores his first European goal for the Spaniards with a fine left-foot shot from the edge of the area.

2029: The new darling of Parkhead Kenny Miller is denied a second goal when his header from Lee Naylor's cross is kept out by an acrobatic stop from Jesper Christiansen.

2028: GOAL Steaua Bucharest 0-1 Lyon
Lyon go ahead through the simplest of goals. Carlos spills a simple shot and the ball falls at the feet of Fred to slot in.

2023: GOAL Arsenal 1-0 FC Porto
Arsenal go in front with a sparkling goal from Thierry Henry. Emmanuel Eboue swings in a delightful cross and Henry's powerful header is almost as easy on the eye to give Helton no chance.

2020: GOAL Celtic 1-0 FC Copenhagen
Kenny Miller is having the week of his life. The lively Shunsuke Nakamura is felled in the box and Miller's spot-kick just escapes the reach of ex-Rangers keeper Jesper Christiansen.

2018: GOAL AEK Athens 1-1 Anderlecht
Anderlecht's lead lasts just three minutes as Julio Cesar gets AEK's equaliser.

2016: Manchester United are on the backfoot in Portugal. They have already had a let-off when Nuno Gomes dragged a shot wide and Sir Alex Ferguson looks far from happy in the dugout. Somebody could be getting some hairdrying at half-time.

2015: Arsene Wenger comes furiously flying out of his dugout at a refereeing decision. He is unlikely to have been cheered up by Robin van Persie, who is put clean through by Thierry Henry but takes a bad touch and then blazes over the bar.

Raul scores his first goal for the Spanish club since October, rising at the back post to nod home Jose Antonio Reyes' curling free-kick.

The Belgian side are ahead in the Group H tie through Nicolas Frutos.

2004: GOAL Real Madrid 1-0 Dynamo Kiev
Thank you Real Madrid - we have a goal. Ruud van Nistelrooy is the scorer as he has the simple task of side-footing into an empty net after Olexander Shovkovsky makes a hash of trying to gather a Roberto Carlos shot. An early present for Van Nistelrooy who became father to a daughter on Monday evening.

2000: With quarter of an hour gone we are still waiting for our first goal in the seven games.

1958: Manchester United go close when Cristiano Ronaldo fires in a long-range effort which Quim parries and Louis Saha is just unable to finish off the rebound.

1957: Celtic are enjoying a bright period and Shunsuke Nakamara earns himself a shot on goal by turning smartly, but Michael Gravgaard reacts well to block his effort.

1955: Paul Scholes joins Michael Carrick in the referee's notebook with a similarly needless booking, the midfielder going in late on Petit.

1954: Ex-Tottenham striker Helder Postiga is getting no love from the Arsenal fans, who are booing his every touch.

1952: Manchester United's new "midfield enforcer" Michael Carrick makes his presence felt in Portugal as he goes in late on Leo and earns himself an early booking.

1949: Arsenal have the ball in the net but their celebrations are cut short by the officials, who judge the ball had gone out of play before Cesc Fabregas squares for Kolo Toure to poke home. It is a promising start for the Gunners though.

1948: Manchester United are used to playing to full houses wherever they go but clearly the folks in Benfica are a tough bunch to impress - there are empty seats all over the Stadium of Light.

1945: The other seven games get under way on another busy night of Champions League action.

1940: There is an early setback for Arsenal as Johan Djourou is injured in the warm-up and is replaced in the starting line-up by Justin Hoyte.

1929: FULL-TIME - CSKA Moscow 1-0 Hamburg
CSKA Moscow went top of Group G after a 1-0 win over Hamburg in the early kick-off, thanks to Alexandro Dudu's 59th-minute header. Bundesliga side Hamburg ended the game with just 10 men when Benjamin Lauth was sent off for violent conduct five minutes from the end.

TEAM NEWS

In Lisbon, Manchester United make two changes from the side that drew with Reading 1-1 on Saturday.

Midfielder John O'Shea and striker Louis Saha, who were on the bench on Saturday, are in the starting line-up, while Alan Smith is named as a substitute.

Nuno Gomes and Simao Sabrosa, the winger Liverpool wanted to sign last season, lead the Benfica attack.

In last season's Champions League, United failed to make the last 16 after losing to Benfica 2-1 in the Stadium of Light.

If Smith comes on it would be the first time he would have played since he suffered that horrific leg break against Liverpool in the FA Cup last February.

Celtic will be without striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, who has failed a fitness test on the ankle injury he picked up during the Old Firm derby on Saturday. Maciej Zurawski takes his place.

Celtic's opponents Copenhagen are without Jesper Gronkjaer through injury.

Arsenal make two changes - Alexander Hleb comes in for Freddie Ljungberg and Robin van Persie replaces Emmanuel Adebayor.
