Sevilla claimed a shock victory over European Champions Barcelona in the Uefa Super Cup in Monaco.
Sevilla's players celebrate their Uefa Super Cup victory
Renato gave the Uefa Cup winners an early lead, slotting home the rebound after Barca keeper Victor Valdes could not hold Luis Fabiano's shot.
Fredi Kanoute headed home Sevilla's second on the stroke of half-time after Valdes failed to clear a corner.
And when Fabiano was fouled in the box, Enzo Maresca's penalty sealed Sevilla's win over their Spanish rivals.
Barca are favourites to defend their title this season and become the first team in Champions League history to win back-to-back tournaments.
I feel this was a bad night - but Sevilla deserved to win the game and we have learned that we cannot win all the time
Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard
Frank Rijkaard's side won the Spanish Super Cup against Espanyol on Sunday and included all their big-name stars in their starting line-up - but they looked jaded here.
Former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen had the best of Barca's chances, forcing a good save from Sevilla keeper Andres Palop - but clear-cut openings were few and far between for Rijkaard's men.
Rijkaard said: "The second goal was the crucial one, coming as it did on the stroke of half-time and I feel that that was the breaking point for us.
"But overall they played to their strengths and to their system and that made it very difficult for us.
"I feel this was a bad night - but Sevilla deserved to win the game and we have learned that we cannot win all the time."
Sevilla coach Juande Ramos said: "This is a great victory for us.
"Tactically we were excellent. We never allowed Barcelona to get on top of us.
"But we also scored goals at vital times, early in the first half and more importantly late on in the same period."
