Graham Poll of England is to referee the Uefa Cup final between Portugal's Sporting and Russia's CSKA Moscow in Lisbon on Wednesday.
Poll is the only English referee on Fifa's 2006 World Cup shortlist
A Uefa statement said that Glenn Turner and Michael Tingey would be Poll's assistant referees for the match.
Another English referee, Steve Bennett, was named as the fourth official.
"I'm absolutely delighted - it's the pinnacle of my career," said Poll ahead of the final, which will be played in Sporting's Jose Alvalade stadium.
Poll is also the only British referee with a chance of taking part in the 2006 World Cup finals after Fifa revealed its shortlist of 46 officials in January.
