Ronaldinho extends Barca contract

Ronaldinho has been key to Barca's resurgence over the last two years
World Player of the Year Ronaldinho has extended his contract with Spanish champions Barcelona for another two years until 2010.

The 25-year-old Brazilian joined Barcelona from Paris St Germain on a five-year deal for £17m in 2003.

The new contract will see Ronaldinho's buy-out clause increased to £85m.

Like Ronaldinho, striker Samuel Eto'o, midfielders Xavi and Deco and goalkeeper Victor Valdes have all had their deals extended until 2010.

In his first season with Barca, Ronaldinho inspired his new team to a 17-match unbeaten run that helped them finish as runners-up to Valencia.

He was named as World Player of the Year in December 2004 and played a key role in helping Barca win their first league title in six years last season.

"I am very pleased it has all been resolved," said Ronaldinho.

"I wanted to stay at the club and they wanted me too, there was never a problem. There were only a few small matters to sort out.

"I am very happy in this side and this type of contentment doesn't have a price.

"I want for nothing here and look forward to staying for many years."
