2118: Kevin Kilbane almost gets on to a James Beattie header halfway inside the Villarreal half, but his first touch takes the ball away from him and the chance is lost.

Ruud van Nistelrooy doubles United's lead with a low shot from just inside the area after a pinpoint pass from Wayne Rooney.

2109: The Everton players are already on the pitch waiting for the second half at Goodison Park while Villarreal are still in the dressing-room.

2108: Within 30 seconds, Debrecen think they have levelled when Peter Halmosi breaks into the left-hand side of the area and fires home but he is penalised for a foul on Gary Neville and the goal is ruled out.

Within seconds the Cypriots pull one back as Nikolaos Frousos atones for his two first half misses by sweeping the ball from substitute Kampantais' pass following a dreadful error by Julien Rodriguez.

A crucial second away goal for Rangers as Fernando Ricksen flicks home the ball from 12 yards to double the lead.

1930: The three Glazer brothers arrive at Old Trafford to watch their first Manchester United game. It is the first home match since the takeover of the club and thousands of fans are reportedly boycotting it.

1903: Rangers keeper Ronald Waterreus is called into action a couple of times early on, but safely gathers the ball on both occasions.

1900: Rangers kick off the first of Tuesday's games involving a British club, away to Anorthosis Famagusta.

Defender Julien Rodriguez makes his debut for Rangers as boss Alex McLeish makes to two changes to the side that beat Inverness at the weekend.

Michael Ball is the other change as Alex Rae and Peter Lovenkrands drop to the bench.

Phil Neville makes his debut for Everton against Villarreal while Duncan Ferguson starts the game among the substitutes.

David Weir is preferred to new signing Per Kroldrup, who is also on the bench.

Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan starts for the Spaniards.

Back at Forlan's old stomping ground, Edwin van der Sar makes his debut for United, who select John O'Shea ahead of Gabriel Heinze.
