Euro 2004 player of the tournament Theo Zagorakis has been made a free agent by cash-strapped Greek side AEK Athens.

The ex-Leicester player, who captained Greece to victory in Portugal, has accepted a reduced pay-off which is reported to be 220,000 from AEK.

"He showed he genuinely has the club's best interests at heart and is free to take up any of the great offers from teams abroad," said a club statement.

Among the clubs showing an interest are Italian Serie A side Bologna.
