Maritimo warning for Gers
Mitchell van der Gaag says all the pressure is on Rangers
Rangers v Maritimo
Date: Thurs, 30 September
Venue: Ibrox Park, Glasgow
Kick off: 2000 BST
Maritimo skipper Mitchell van der Gaag believes his unfancied side can upset Rangers and progress to the group stage of the Uefa Cup.

The Portuguese side take a 1-0 lead from the first round, first leg to Ibrox on Thursday night.

"I'm confident we can show the form we did in the first match," said Van der Gaag, who played under Rangers manager Alex McLeish at Motherwell.

"I think we surprised Rangers a bit and the pressure is all on them."

Madeira-based Maritimo will be boosted by their impressive start in the Portuguese Superliga.

A 2-1 home win over Boavista on Saturday, with goals from defender Tonel and Brazilian forward Alan, means they have nine points from their opening four games and are only one point behind leaders Benfica.

"We want to impose our style and we will also fight a lot so as to win the ball and launch attacks," said manager Mariano Barreto.

"We will try to put on a show and win playing good football.

"It's a shame about the result against Rangers here. For me, 5-2 would have been a fairer result. We will have to go there and really battle."
