Zinedine Zidane has shelved plans to retire and wants to stay at Real Madrid until 2006.
The France World Cup winner insisted he would quit football when his current contract expires, but admits he now hopes to stay on at The Bernabeu.
Zidane said: "After three years at this club, I only have good things
to say about Real.
"If Real wants to extend my contract
for a year then we can talk about that. I feel like playing another year."
Zidane, who will be 32 in June, has returned from injury in inspirational form in Real's recent victories, playing a pivotal role in his team's two recent victories.
Real's hierarchy have approached him about an extension and deal is expected to be agreed.
