Sporting concede Jardel defeat
Jardel
Jardel says he may return to Brazil
Striker Mario Jardel seems unlikely to resolve his dispute with Sporting Lisbon following comments by the club's president Miguel Ribeiro.

Jardel is refusing to play for the Portuguese club and reportedly wants to leave for a bigger club.

The Brazilian missed Sporting's defeat to Inter Milan in the Champions League as well as being absent for the team's two opening league fixtures as they defend their title.

But, although Sporting are yet to receive any suitable offers for the Brazilian, Ribeiro admitted there was little chance of his being seen again in a green and white shirt.

"We can't count on Jardel," Ribeiro told newspapers on Wednesday.

"The conclusion that we extract is that the great defeat is Sporting's," he added.

Sporting are believed to want around £8m for Jardel, who was Europe's top scorer last season with 42 goals.

The Brazilian has made his discontent at Sporting clear by criticising the club, his team-mates and coach Laszlo Boloni.

Jardel also says he is depressed after his recent separation from his wife.
