Bastia in double signing
Maurice agreed a deal to leave Marseille
Striker Florian Maurice has signed for French First Division side Bastia along with midfielder Jocelyn Gourvennec.
Maurice had returned to Marseille after a loan spell with Spanish club Celta Vigo, where his impact was limited because of injuries.
"I struck a deal with Marseille to become a free agent," said 28-year-old Maurice, who has also played for Lyon and Paris St. Germain. "Marseille coach Alain Perrin wanted to keep me but my priority was to play and to get back on the pitch and Bastia offered me an extraordinary opportunity." Gourvennec had fallen out of favour at Rennes last season. He said: "I've come to Bastia to relaunch my career. "The club has given me a chance and the challenge that the coaches have offered me is attractive." |
