Bayern sign Ze Roberto
Ze Roberto leaves Bayer Leverkusen for Bayern Munich
Ze Roberto was one of Leverkusen's stars this season
Bayer Leverkusen's Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto has agreed a three-year deal with Bayern Munich.

Ze Roberto will follow his team-mate Michael Ballack to Bayern, who have now overhauled their midfield following their first trophyless season since 1995.

Bayern have already also recruited up-and-coming midfielder Sebastian Deisler from Hertha Berlin.

Munich said negotiations were continuing over the transfer fee for Ze Roberto, but the figure is expected to be in the region of 7.3m.

"He is a player that can help us move forward," said Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld.

Ze Roberto, who has 44 Brazil caps, is expected to play in front of French international Bixente Lizarazu, forming a potentially brilliant left-sided alliance.

The 27-year-old's departure is a further blow to Leverkusen in the week they lost the Champions League final - which Ze Roberto missed through suspension - to Real Madrid.

Defender Lucio is also expected to leave the club during the close season after playing for Brazil at the World Cup finals, with Real believed to be leading the chase.

Bayern, meanwhile, are expected to continue strengthening their team over the summer.

Signing a defender is now their priority and they have expressed interest in Brazilian Edmilson from French champions Olympique Lyon and Bosnian Mladen Krstajic from Werder Bremen.
