Man City to snap up Jarni
Robert Jarni could be on his way to Manchester
Robert Jarni could be on his way to Manchester
Croatian international midfielder Robert Jarni is set to join Manchester City, according to Spanish club Las Palmas.

Jarni has not played for Las Palmas this season, but the 33-year-old former Real Madrid player has continued to be a regular in the Croatia team.

In a statement , the club said: "The English FA have requested an international transfer for the Croatian player in the name of Manchester City.

"Las Palmas have agreed to the request and as a result the player has been released from the squad."

Jarni almost moved to England in 1998 when his then club Real Betis accepted a bid from Coventry City, but he opted to join Real Madrid who came in with a late counter-offer.

He played one season at the Bernabeu before moving to second division Las Palmas, helping them back to the top flight in his first year.
