Emerton looks to England
Brett Emerton
Emerton believes a move to England is imminent
Australian midfielder Brett Emerton has hinted he could be on his way to the English Premiership if his Dutch club Feyenoord bow out of European competition.

Feyenoord need at least a scoreless or one-all draw in their Champions League match against Spartak Moscow on Wednesday to qualify for a Uefa Cup spot.

But should the Dutch side fail to finish third in Group H, they may wish to cash in on the 7m-rated Emerton - a big return on a player who only cost them 415,000 from Sydney Olympic 18 months ago.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle have all reportedly expressed an interest in signing the right-sided midfielder.

Emerton said: "Although the league in Holland is good and I've learned a lot there, I'm sure the time will come to go to England.

"Obviously I'd like to go to one of the big clubs in England.

"But there's a lot of things to take into consideration - where I have a chance of playing, where I'm going to be living.

"Obviously I want to be happy there."
