Salas joins Juventus
Chilean striker Marcelo Salas is set to join Juventus
Marcelo Salas will replace Inzaghi at Juventus
Chilean striker Marcelo Salas will join Juventus from Lazio in a swap deal involving Darko Kovacevic.

Juve's official website reported that the striker has agreed to join the Turin-based club, ending months of speculation regarding his future.

Juve are reported to have paid 8.2m plus Serbian striker Kovacevic.

The 26-year-old Salas has been bought as a replacement for Filippo Inzaghi, who joined AC Milan in July.

Juve already have striker's David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero but with Salas arriving coach Marcello Lippi has the option of playing Del Piero in the midfield role vacated by Zinedine Zidane.

Salas joined Lazio for 12m from River Plate in 1998 and had a turbulent three years with the Serie A club.

Last year, Lazio tried to sell Salas to Parma and towards the end of last season he was offered to Valencia as makeweight in a swap deal involving Kily Gonzalez.
