Inter in double swoop
Francesco Toldo
Francesco Toldo: The latest star to be sold by Fiorentina
Serie A giants Inter Milan have signed Fiorentina keeper Francesco Toldo and Parma winger Sergio Conceiçao.

The double swoop is part of a summer of rebuilding for Inter, who were hugely disappointing last season.

As part of the Conceiçao deal, Inter's highly-rated French goalkeeper Sebastien Frey will move to Parma.

Inter said on their website that they had received Conceicao and 10 billion lire (£3.1m) in return for Frey.

Conceiçao: Has signed a four-year deal

Portuguese international Conceiçao played for Parma for just one season after featuring in Lazio's Championship-winning side of 1999- 2000.

He has signed a four-year contract and said he was delighted to be linking up with the San Siro side.

"I am very pleased to be here in Milan to play for a glorious club like Inter," he said.

Conceiçao said he was delighted that Inter had decided not to sell star striker Christian Vieri to Juventus

"I am very motivated, especially as the club has shown its ambition by refusing to release Vieri," he said.

Inter president Massimo Moratti has made it clear that Vieri will not be returning to Juventus.

Ease financial plight

The Inter president met with Juventus officials on Tuesday to discuss the Turin club's interest in Vieri.

The Italian, who made his name with Juve before moves to Atletico Madrid, Lazio and Inter, had been linked with a return to Turin, but Moratti said Vieri was staying put.

"We have no intention of letting Vieri go," Moratti told the club's website.

Toldo's sale will further ease the financial plight of Fiorentina, who are selling many of their best players to avoid bankruptcy.

On Tuesday they sold Portuguese midfielder Rui Costa to AC Milan.
