Italian clubs to contest bans
![]() Dida: Handed one-year ban by Italian league
The Italian clubs involved in the false passport scandal plan to plan to appeal against the sanctions imposed on them.
AC Milan will contest the league's ruling to ban Brazilian goalkeeper Dida for a year, as well as the club's £314,000 fine. "The only information I can give regarding this decision is very simply that we will appeal," AC Milan's lawyer Leandro Cantamessa said. "'We' means both Milan and Dida," he added. Vicenza are also planning to appeal against the year-long bans imposed on director-general Rinaldo Sagramola and Brazilian players Jeda and Dede. Sagramola was fined 10m lire (£3,100) while Vicenza have to pay 1bn lire (£313,725). Udinese were hit heaviest by the league rulings with four Brazilian players banned for a year, a club official struck off for two, and a 3bn lire (£941,258) fine - all of which they intend to contest.
