Ramos' Rayo reign ends
Juande Ramos
Ramos leaves Rayo Vallecano under a cloud
Juande Ramos has quit Spanish Primera Liga side Rayo Vallecano after a fall-out with the club's managing director.

Ramos, who guided the club to a place in this season's Uefa Cup quarter-finals, claimed he was leaving because of the Madrid side's lack of ambition.

"My time here is finished," Ramos said.

"I am aware that the club does not have a lot of money and is a seller of players. I have to go elsewhere to fulfil my ambitions."

Rayo gave Ramos the opportunity to shine - I will not tolerate his attitude now

But Vallecano's managing director Alvaro Ruiz Mateos rejected his claims out of hand.

"We sold three players last year and we brought in better ones as he (Ramos) had requested," he said.

"I never once heard him say thank you to the players or the club.

"He shouldn't forget that when we hired him he had been in charge of Barcelona B who were on the point of being relegated.

"Rayo gave him the opportunity to shine and to travel all over Europe. I will not tolerate his attitude now."

According to club sources current Osasuna coach Miguel Angel Lotina, sacked Atletico Madrid boss Marcos Alonso and former Valladolid coach Gregorio Manzano are on the shortlist to succeed Ramos.
