Burke makes Rapid move to Romania
Rapid coach Anghel Iordanescu
Burke will be keen to impress Rapid coach Iordanescu
Former Wolves and Aston Villa midfielder Mark Burke is set to become the first Englishman to play in Romania after signing for Rapid Bucharest.

The 31-year-old has agreed a four-month deal with Rapid worth around 13,000 and will leave current club Japan's Omiya Ardija.

Burke said he was relishing the challenge but admitted it would be tough to win a regular place in the team because Rapid already have five strikers.

"I'm sure it will be an interesting experience," he said.

Rapid are eighth in the Romanian league and are still aiming for a place in Europe.

The club have said the deal could be extended for another season in the summer if both parties are satisfied with initial results.
