Raphael Wicky became a regular in the Swiss team before his 20th birthday.
Debut: 24/04/96 v Wales
Now with more than 50 caps to his name Wicky has played an influential role in helping Switzerland to qualify for Euro 2004 at the top of their group.
Wicky won two Swiss Cups and then the double in 1997 with FC Sion before a move to German club Werder Bremen.
His combative style is ideally suited to the Bundesliga,to where he returned with Hamburg after a short unsuccessful spell at Atletico Madrid in 2001.
Perhaps surprisingly, goals have been in short supply for Wicky with just two in over 150 games in the German top-flight.
Voted Swiss Player of the Year in 1998, Wicky played in Euro 96 but has had to wait eight years for another taste of a top international tournament.
Did you know? Wicky scored his first senior goal past Fabien Barthez to help knock Marseille out of the Uefa Cup in 1994.
