Swiss trio retire

SWITZERLAND 1-3 FRANCE
Stephane Chapuisat
Three senior Swiss players - striker Stephane Chapuisat, goalkeeper and captain Joerg Stiel and midfielder Fabio Celestini - have retired.

The trio's announcement follows the Swiss team's early exit from Euro 2004.

Chapuisat, 34, was voted by his country's journalists as the best footballer the nation has produced in the last 50 years.

The striker, who also played in Euro 96, scored a record 21 goals for the Swiss national team.
