Portugal's captain Luis Figo is one of the great players to have graced European football over the past decade.

The Real Madrid winger's' impressive CV includes the 2001 Fifa World Player of the Year award and setting a then world record transfer fee of 37m.

His 2001 move from Barcelona to Real Madrid is one of the most acrimonious transfers in football history.

But he has excelled since arriving at the Bernabeu, enjoying a succession of trophy-laden years.

Despite a rare bad year at Real in the 2003/04 season, Figo remains Portugal's key player.

His attacking verve from the right side of midfield has earnt him over 30 international goals.


Did you know? Figo had a pig's head thrown at him when he returned to play at Barcelona for arch rivals Madrid.
