Scolari savours progress

PORTUGAL 2-2 ENGLAND (Portugal win 6-5 on penalties)
Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari was jubilant after his side's dramatic shoot-out win over England booked their place in the semi-finals of Euro 2004.

"All wins are delicious, but this one - especially after everything that happened - was spectacular," he said.

"Culminating with the penalties that Ricardo saved and scored - that's the kind of thing that makes us thank God.

"Congratulations to all Portugese. Things are rolling now with our motivation and the people behind us."

Portuguese winger Ronaldo felt he and his team-mates deserved their victory - and hopes they can continue their progress.

It's gone better than I ever expected and let's hope it's not over for us yet
Cristiano Ronaldo

"We showed great grit, determination and confidence and over the 120 minutes people could see we were determined to win this game," he added.

"The players were magnificent. We worked really hard and we still hope to go further in this tournament.

"It's extraordinary. It's gone better than I ever expected and let's hope it's not over for us yet."
