Pavel Nedved has won the Golden Ball award as the best Czech soccer player for the fifth time in seven years.

The 2003 European Footballer of the Year topped a poll of local sports journalists with Udinese's Marek Jankulovski second in the voting.

The Juventus midfielder is captain of the Czech national team, whose 20-match unbeaten run ended in March.

The 31-year-old will lead his country in Euro 2004, as they face Germany, the Netherlands and Latvia in Group D.
