Portugal v Greece player ratings
Our assessment of the Portugal and Greece players in their final in Lisbon.
Ricardo - 5: Saved bravely at the feet of Charisteas early on. Always eager to come for crosses but he was caught in no man's land for Greece's goal.
Miguel - 7: Operated almost as a right winger as Portugal dominated early on. Had Portugal's first chance on goal and looked lively until he was forced off just before half-time through injury.
Ricardo Carvalho - 6: Looked at ease on the ball and solid in the tackle, he was rarely tested by the Greek forwards.
Jorge Andrade - 5: Won everything in the air until Greece's goal when Charisteas outjumped him to score.
Nuno Valente - 6: He was beaten once by Vryzas but recovered well to stop the Greek forward. Not much of an attacking threat he was booked late on for a clumsy foul that showed his frustration.
Costinha - 6: Picked up an early booking for a foul on Seitaridis but did not let it bother him. Does the simple things so well but is often overshadowed by Portugal's other midfielders.
Nuno Maniche - 6: Always looking to get forward, he fired just wide with a well struck shot. But not the attacking threat as in previous games.
Deco - 5: Constantly looking to probe and find gaps in the defence but far too sloppy with the ball. Went to ground far too easily and became more wasteful when Portugal needed him to shine.
Luis Figo - 6: Nowhere near the influence he was in the quarter-final. Could not break free of the shackles of Seitaridis on the left and forced to move inside. Was close to grabbing a late leveller but the skipper shot narrowly wide.
Cristiano Ronaldo - 6: He looked one of Portugal's main threats but not a lot came off for the talented teenager. Had a great chance to equalise, but after a fantastic first touch he produced an awful finish.
Pauleta - 6: Far more involved than in previous games but did not really look like breaking his Euro 2004 duck. Collided with Miguel in the box and shot well over from 40 yards.
Paulo Ferreira (replaced Miguel, 43 mins) - 5: Tried to continue Miguel's early success by providing width down the right side. But too often his crosses came from deep and caused few problems for Greece's dominant backline.
Rui Costa (replaced Costinha, 60 mins) - 6: Playing his last game for his country, he did his best to try and provide a bit of spark but unable to carve out any real chances.
Nuno Gomes (replaced Pauleta, 73 mins): Thrown on in the hope of repeating his heroics against Spain but had little chance to shine.
Antonios Nikopolidis - 7: He spilled a straight forward shot from Pauleta but recovered to collect and from then on his handling was impeccable and he pulled off a couple of smart saves.
Georgios Seitaridis - 9 (STAR MAN): The man with the golden boots rarely looked troubled by either Figo or Ronaldo and by the end neither player looked keen to venture down Greece's right side. Has pace and strength, he even found the energy to stride forward and join the attack.
Michail Kapsis - 8: A doubt through injury but it did not show. He did not give Pauleta an inch all night and was unflappable.
Traianos Dellas - 8: A cool customer at the back, he rarely looked troubled all evening. Timed his tackles wonderfully and looked at home with the ball at his feet.
Panagiotis Fyssas - 7: Like Seitaridis, Greece's left-back is another solid defender who is rarely beaten in a one-on-one situation. Picked up a late yellow card for but other than that it was a near flawless display.
Angelos Basinas - 6: Scorer of Greece's second goal in the group game between the two sides, this time he turned provider as his corner found the head of Charisteas.
Konstantinos Katsouranis - 7: Had a header over the bar and some nice touches, he typified Greece's efforts when he tracked all the way back in the dying moments to intercept a dangerous through ball.
Stelios Giannakopoulos - 6: A workmanlike performance from the Bolton midfielder. Tried to get forward and help out in attack but other than a header over the bar his main task was to aid his defence.
Theo Zagorakis - 8: Was still full of running even when his team-mates began to tire in the dying minutes. Almost created a second goal with a lovely piece of skill that would have capped a top effort.
Angelos Charisteas - 8: Greece's lone striker was frequently seen in his own box providing a 10th defender. A completely selfless display was capped by the winning goal as he outjumped Andrade to head home a Basinas corner.
Zissis Vryzas - 7: A tricky customer who was the chief line of support for Charisteas. One of Greece's most creative talents, his best moment was a delightful chip that provided a chance for Charisteas.
Stylianos Venetidis (replaced Giannakopoulos, 76 mins): His only task was to go on and join Greece's rearguard.
Dmitrios Papadopoulos (replaced Vryzas, 81 mins): Brought on as Greece looked to use up some time.
