Clockwatch: Russia 2-1 Greece
All the action from the Group A match in Faro-Loulé.

Goalflashes and major incidents:

FULL-TIME Greece cling on to a place in the quarter-finals despite losing to a reinvigorated Russia as Portugal triumph over Spain.

Otto Rehhagel's Greek side have produced the best showing ever for Greece in a major tournament.

92 mins: Greece are forced to clear their lines in the dying minutes.

90 mins: Greece win a corner as the minutes tick by but Tsiartas' effort eludes his team-mates.

88 mins: Greece make a straight swap in defence bringing on Fyssas for Venetidis.

86 mins: Dellas receives his first yellow card of the competition for a push on Sychov and concedes a dangerous free-kick.

Gusev's free-kick is firmly headed away but seconds later Russia miss an easy chance to stretch their lead as the ball skims across the goal-line out of everyone's reach.

84 mins: Dellas sends an inswinging corner in and Katsouranis' header takes a deflection of a Russian defender - but a goal-kick is given.

81 mins: Tsiartas fires in another powerful free-kick but Russia 'keeper Malafeev punches it away to deny Greece.

79 mins: Vryzas seeks his shot blocked by Russia for a corner but Dellas' kick is woefully deep.

77 mins: Tsiartas sends a driving free-kick towards the Russian goal but Malafeev stretches to push it beyond danger.

75 mins: Vryzas picks up a loose ball inside the area but he cannot get his final shot on target.

Russia immediately go on the break but Kirichenko's left-footed strike is taken safely by 'keeper Nikopolidis.

71 mins: Sychov and Kirichenko continue to drive at the Greece defence but neither are able to conjure a meaningful shot on goal.

69 mins: Greece make their first change of the match with Atletico Madrid striker Nikolaidis on for Papadopoulos.

67 mins: Kirichenko tries his luck with a solo effort from long range but it is comfortably saved. Greece again fail to show the urgency they should with things still in the balance in Group A.

64 mins: Porto midfielder Alenitchev is at the heart of things for Russia as they again seize the initiative and pile forward.

60 mins: Sychev sends a powerful strike fizzing towards the Greek goal but Nikopolidis is alert in goal and palms it away to safety.

59 mins: Kirichenko sees the ball loop into the crowd after an acrobatic, overhead effort in the Greek half.

57 mins: Nuno Gomes puts Portugal ahead against Spain - which means that Greece would still go through if the scores remain the same.

55 mins: Charisteas loops the header high over the bar from a corner as Greece - urged on by their fans - try and find an equaliser.

54 mins: Left-back Sennikov comes on in place of centre-back Sharanov who will not resume.

52 mins: Sharanov goes down injured after being caught on the back of the calf by Charisteas and Greece captain Zagorakis has to pump the ball out of play.

49 mins: Tsiartas has the first real chance for Greece after the break as he volleys the ball goalwards but it only finds Russian keeper Malafeev.

48 mins: Again Gusev leads the Russian attack as he fires two crosses into the box but no-one gets on the end of them to capitalise.

46 mins: Russia make two changes for the second half Semshov comes in on the left of midfield for Kariaka while 20-year-old striker Sychev replaces Bulykin.

HALF-TIME: Greece go in at the break knowing they will scrape through in second place as things stand in Group A.

A 2-1 defeat by Russia, coupled with a win for Portugal, would still see them in - but a third goal for Russia would spell trouble for the Greeks.

43 min: GOAL Russia 2-1 Greece
Vryzaz gets a vital goal back for Greece.

Greek substitute Tsiartas - on for Basinas - makes an immediate impact when he fires in a corner from the left.

The resulting play sees Papadopoulos head the ball to Vryzaz who is able to get enough control to dink the ball past Malafeev.

40 mins: Kariaka shows drive and determination down the left-hand side to reach the byeline but his resulting shot is pushed wide by Nikopolidis.

38 mins: Radimov fires a free-kick high over the bar from outside the area and Greece are lucky to find themselves out of danger once more.

36 mins: Bulykin presses the shaky Greek defence again with a couple of shots from close range but 'keeper Nikopolidis comes to the rescue.

33 mins: Greece are still struggling to control the pace of the match even though they are in pole position in Group A.

30 mins: Zagorakis pulls down Russian goalscorer Bulykin and concedes a free-kick from 35 yards out. Gusev's resulting effort skips round the wall but is off-target.

27 mins: Bulykin's header just shaves the post as Russia increasingly look like stretching their lead over a disorganised Greek side.

24 mins: Both sides are guilty of missing easy goal-scoring chances. First Russian Kariaka fires the ball high over the bar from close range. Then moments later at the other end Charisteas scuffs an easy tap-in.

20 mins: Greece midfielder Basinas sends over a corner but it is cleared to safety and Russia surge forward again on the break.

16 mins: GOAL Russia 2-0 Greece
Bulykin doubles Russia's advantage as the Greek defence flounders.

Gusev swings in another lashing corner and Bulykin puts the ball beyond Nikopolidis with a diving header from just outside the box.

The second goal means Greece could be in trouble if Portugal score in the other Group A game against Spain.

13 mins: Sharanov lands awkwardly after colliding with his Russian team-mate Alenichev but he is able to pick himself up.

Moments later Sharanov earns a yellow card for a late challenge on Zagorakis.

11 mins: Greek captain Zagorakis loops the ball into the box from the right but it drifts beyond reach.

9 mins: Gusev takes the first corner of the match for Russia as they continue to pose a threat to Greece's ambitions.

5 mins: The Greeks try to regain control of the match but only succeed in pumping long balls up to lone striker Vryzas.

As things stand even if the scoreline remains the same in this match Greece will still go through as the Portugal and Spain game is goalless.

2 mins: GOAL Russia 1-0 Greece
Kirichenko shocks Greece to put Russia ahead.

The Greek defence fails to clear the ball properly and Kirichenko pounces, controls the ball and stretches to poke it past 'keeper Nikopolidis.

Kirichenko's strike is the fastest goal in the history of the European Championship.

1 min: Russia kick-off their last Group A match against Greece at the Estadio Algarve in Faro.

Team news:

Russian coach Georgy Yartsev makes seven changes to the side which lost both their opening matches to Spain and Portugal.

Vyacheslav Malafeyev replaces Sergei Ovchinnikov in goal and Roman Sharanov comes in for suspended captain Alexei Smertin.

Wholesale changes up front see Dmitri Bulykin and Dmitri Kirichenko lead the line.

Greece make three changes to their side as they go in search of at least a draw for a place in the quarter-finals.

Angelos Basinas replaces the suspended Giorgos Karagounis while Stylianos Venetidis steps in for Panagiotis Fyssas at the back while Dimitrios Papadopoulos comes in behind lone striker Zisis Vryzas.
