Bolton showed immense character and resolve to take all three points

Stuart Holden fired a dramatic late winner as Bolton beat Blackburn at home for the first time since 2000 and temporarily rose to fifth in the table.

After a poor first half the match came to life when Bolton's Mark Davies was sent off for an elbow on Phil Jones.

Blackburn pushed forward but it was the hosts who took the lead through substitute Fabrice Muamba's low strike.

Mame Biram Diouf looked to have sealed a point with a slotted equaliser but Holden's instant reply stole the show.

It was a thrilling end to a game that offered little entertainment early on but was transformed from the moment Bolton were reduced to 10 men.

Mark Davies' dismissal seemed to inspire the hosts and their advantage was hard earned, but when the visitors levelled they appeared well set to push on for victory.
