GOALFLASHES AND MAJOR INCIDENTS (all times BST)

By Charlie Henderson

"It was a thoroughly deserved win for Arsenal, they were undoubtedly the better team and even had the luxury of missing that penalty. The midfield was very, very, very good with a lovely balance, Tomas Rosicky was a handful and United couldn't pick him. If you were a yellow-shirted Arsenal player today you always had options. Manchester United were poor. Arsenal were extremely good."
Mark Lawrenson, BBC Five Live Sport

1756: FULL-TIME Manchester United 0-1 Arsenal
A first Premiership goal and win for Arsenal at Old Trafford since May 2002 when the result was also 1-0, Sylvain Wiltord scoring the goal that handed the Gunners the title. Manchester United miss out on the chance to go top of the table and stay second, behind Portsmouth and ahead of Chelsea on goal difference. The Gunners climb out of the relegation zone and go up to 10th.

1754: Manchester United throw everyone forward for a free-kick. Rio Ferdinand shoulders the ball square to Wes Brown but his volley is well saved by Jens Lehmann.

1753: There's the fourth official who signals three minutes of added time. Kolo Toure looks to be in pain having stretched for a clearance, but he is staying on.

1751: Arsenal make a change but it is not Theo Walcott who comes on. He was going to, but now they are ahead Mathieu Flamini replaces Emmanuel Adebayor.

1749: A great save from Jens Lehmann who gets enough of a finger tip to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's shot to keep Arsenal ahead.

1748: GOAL Manchester United 0-1 Arsenal
Cristiano Ronaldo tries one trick too many and is robbed of the ball by Cesc Fabregas who runs to the edge of the area and threads a pass through to Emmanuel Adebayor. He scores with a neat flick off the outside of his right boot that squeezes under Tomasz Kuszczak's body.

1745: The chant of 'Theo, Theo, Theo' goes up from the away fans. Theo Walcott has been warming up for a while but will their call be answered by Arsene Wenger?

1742: John O'Shea gifts possession to Julio Baptista in the centre circle and the Brazilian is allowed to run to the edge of the home penalty area before getting a shot away. His right-footed shot fizzes wide of the upright.

1741: Hot stepper Cristiano Ronaldo's fancy footwork earns him some space in the box, but he opts to shoot instead of playing in a team-mate and Johan Djourou blocks.

1740: Changes two and three for Manchester United see Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer come on for Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney.

1736: Manchester United's Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are told to go and warm up. They join Nemanja Vidic who is also going through his paces on the touchline.

1734: Kolo Toure unleashes a fierce drive from distance but it is wide of the goal. That is Arsenal's 12th shot on goal compared to the 11 from Manchester United.

1733: Paul Scholes, returning to domestic action after three games suspended, takes out Tomas Rosicky off the ball. He is booked. That levels it up at two yellow cards each.

1731: Arsene Wenger, 10 years and one day since he was announced as the Arsenal manager, makes a first change. Julio Baptista is on for Alexander Hleb.

1726: A good chance for Emmanuel Adebayor, but he should have done much better. Emmanuel Eboue nips in to get Cristiano Ronaldo's poor pass to Wes Brown and releases the gangly Togo striker, but his weak shot is easily gathered by Tomasz Kuszczak.

1723: Centre-back Wes Brown is booked for a foul on Emmanuel Adebayor on the right touchline. It is Manchester United's first booking of the game.

1722: Jens Lehmann is caught flat-footed as Louis Saha climbs and flicks a header from Darren Fletcher's cross just wide of the Arsenal goal.

1720: Careless play by Rio Ferdinand who takes his eye of the ball as Tomasz Kuszczak passes the ball out to him. It's a throw to the Gunners but they do little with it.

1713: The crowd is announced and at 75,595 it is a new Premiership record which puts the not insubstantial matter of about £3m in the Old Trafford coffers.

1712: Wayne Rooney looks to thread a pass through to Cristiano Ronaldo but Kolo Toure gets a crucial touch to deflect the ball out for a corner. The Portuguese midfielder's corner whips across the area without anyone getting a touch to it.

1710: An early free-kick for Arsenal on the edge of the area after Patrice Evra handballs. It's more a case of ball to hand than hand to ball so a harsh decision. Nothing comes from it.

1708: Arsenal get the ball rolling again. Manchester United are looking for a victory to send them back to the top of the table while the Gunners are simply looking for a win - their first in the Premiership this season.

1706: With four of Sunday's five games done and dusted, all eyes are now on the remaining action at Old Trafford where the teams emerge for the second period.

1655: FULL-TIME Blackburn 4-2 Manchester City
City finally scored from open play and managed to notch more than a single goal in the Premiership for 14 games - but it still isn't enough as Blackburn rack up their first win of the domestic season.

1655: FULL-TIME West Ham 0-2 Newcastle
A good day for Newcastle who score their first goal away from home since April, keep a first clean sheet of the season and, most importantly, pick up three points to leapfrog West Ham in the table.

1654: FULL-TIME Tottenham 0-0 Fulham
Not the best way for Martin Jol to celebrate his 80th game in charge of Spurs who are enduring their worst start to a Premiership season in 11 years. This game has gone to the home team in each of the five last meetings so Fulham will see it as a good result.

1653: They only scored one before today, but Shabani Nonda has a great chance to make it five for Blackburn. He meets Robbie Savage's cross from the left with a downward header but Nicky Weaver does well to save.

1651: HALF-TIME Manchester United 0-0 Arsenal
Taking the match in isolation you would not imagine Manchester United had a 100% record and Arsenal were struggling in the league. The Gunners look the better side, although Cristiano Ronaldo has been lively.

1650: Fulham's Moritz Volz, playing out of position in central midfield, rifles in a howitzer of a drive which is well saved by England stopper Paul Robinson. There are four minutes of added time at the Lane for either team to find a telling goal.

1649: GOAL Blackburn 4-2 Manchester City
Brett Emerton reaches the byeline and picks out Paul Gallagher who scoops the ball into the net. That's the three points in the bag for Blackburn.

1648: Gary Neville's last-ditch tackle denies Freddie Ljungberg a shot on goal.

1646: Jens Lehmann looks alright, Shay Given does not. Steve Harper comes on in the Newcastle goal for the final 10 minutes or so.

1645: Jens Lehmann takes a shot flush in the face - but what a save. Emmanuel Eboue mis-times his jump and Darren Fletcher's cross picks out Cristiano Ronaldo. he lines up a shot and smacks the shot in on goal - and the German goalkeeper's face. Like Given, he needs treatment.

1644: Manchester City full-back Micah Richards heads over from Joey Barton's corner.

1643: If you're anywhere near east London and the ground shuddered that would be the after shock from Marlon Harewood clattering into Shay Given. The Newcastle keeper looks in a world of pain.

1641: Cristiano Ronaldo foxes Giberto Silva to earn some space before cracking a shot on goal that curves just wide. But should he have passed to Louis Saha who was in a good position?

1637: West Ham almost pull one back as Lee Bowyer backheels a free-kick on the edge of the box to Paul Konchesky, but his low shot whistles just wide of the goal.

1634: GOAL West Ham 0-2 Newcastle
A slip from Danny Gabbidon in the Hammers defence allows Obafemi Martins through on goal and the Nigerian scores his first goal for Newcastle with a cool finish.

1631: Two substitute's combine for West Ham but they cannot force an equaliser, Marlon Harewood heading Yossi Benayoun's cross from the right wide.

1630: Jermain Defoe scored the only goal of the game in the corresponding fixture last season and he could do it again. The Tottenham striker comes on against Fulham for Teemu Tainio.

1629: It is Manchester United's turn to enjoy some telling possession. The ball breaks for Cristiano Ronaldo, who was named after Ronald Reagan, and his shot from the left stings Jens Lehmann's palms.

1626: GOAL Blackburn 3-2 Manchester City
A quick throw-in catches City on their heels and Morten Gamst Pedersen's square pass from the left is turned in by Benni McCarthy.

1625: Manchester United break with Cristiano Ronaldo releasing his old buddy Wayne Rooney down the left, but the striker drags a shot wide. Patrice Evra comes on for the injured Mikael Silvestre.

1623: It looks as if Glenn Roeder's return to West Ham will result in victory. He won 31% of his matches in charge of the Upton Park club, but three points here will take his winning percentage as Newcastle boss to double that.

1620: Tomas Rosicky showed his prowess for shooting from distance in midweek and his first time shot from outside the area produces another good save from Tomasz Kuszczak.

1614: Tomasz Kuszczak's goal is living a charmed life. An almighty scramble from an Arsenal corner with Emmanuel Adebayor and William Gallas almost turning the ball into the net but somehow it stays out.

1612: PENALTY SAVE Alexander Hleb drills a pass into the box and Tomasz Kuszczak's first act in his Manchester United shirt is to bring down Emmanuel Adebayor and concede a penalty. His second act is to save Gilberto Silva's spot-kick.

1611: A second booking for Arsenal and Kolo Toure joins Jens Lehmann in the referee's notebook for a challenge on Louis Saha.

1609: GOAL West Ham 0-1 Newcastle
Obafemi Martins holds off the attentions of West Ham defenders with a strong run deep into Hammers territory before laying it off to Damien Duff, who drills a low shot home for his first goal in Newcastle colours.

1606: A yellow card for Jens Lehmann as he is adjudged to have gathered the ball outside the area. The chant 'same old Arsenal, always cheating' goes up around the self-styled Theatre of Dreams.

1605: West Ham resume action without Carlos Tevez who has been replaced by Marlon Harewood. Blackburn also make some changes with Aaron Mokoena coming on for his 50th Rovers appearance alongside Shabani Nonda. Tugay and Francis Jeffers make way.

1603: Half-time entertainment for the cameraman at White Hart Lane amounts to focusing on a host of women around the ground, particularly a couple of ladies munching on their pies.

1602: Referee Graham Poll blows the whistle and the action at Old Trafford is under way with Manchester United getting the game started.

1559: It is more than four years since Arsenal last won in the Premiership at Old Trafford and 24 years since they lost their first four games in a league campaign. Defeat today and they will equal that and fall 13 points behind their hosts.

1556: Manchester United and Arsenal are in the tunnel at Old Trafford and their moods seem to be as contrasting as their shirts. While Gilberto Silva is all smiles, Gary Neville has a fixed, unflinching stare on his face.

1550: HALF-TIME West Ham 0-0 Newcastle
The pilot who flew Newcastle home from their midweek match in the Uefa Cup congratulated them and manager "Glenn Roper" on their victory. Ropey's the best description for a poor half of football at Upton Park.

1549: HALF-TIME Blackburn 2-2 Manchester City
It is 37 games since Manchester City were involved in a score draw - the longest run in the top-flight - and after that first 45 anything could happen before the final whistle.

1548: HALF-TIME Tottenham 0-0 Fulham
It remains goalless because of a lack of quality in the final third at White Hart Lane.

1545: GOAL Blackburn 2-2 Manchester City
It is action at Ewood Park where two shot-shy teams were supposed to be playing out a dour goalless draw. Bernado Corradi's cross from the right is turned into his own net by Andre Ooijer for a second own goal of the game.

1543: GOAL Blackburn 2-1 Manchester City
Another Morten Gamst Pedersen free-kick on the right and another goal.

1539: Blackburn 1-1 Manchester City
Third time lucky for Joey Barton. He breaks the offside trap, races on to Paul Dickov's through ball and takes his time before picking his spot and equalising with a low finish.

1538: The teams are out warming up at Old Trafford and there's a special congratulatory word on the touchline for Tomasz Kuszczak from his former manager and Manchester United legend Bryan Robson.

1537: Manchester City are the only team in England yet to score a goal from open play and it is easy to see why. Joey Barton bursts from deep on to a loose ball but shoots weakly at Brad Friedel's legs.

1536: West Ham's Lee Bowyer, against his former club, latches on to Shay Given's clearance from outside the area and flights a volley from halfway just wide of the goal to spare Given's blushes.

1533: That was a short full debut for Hatem Trabelsi. The Tunisian comes off with a groin problem to be replaced by another debutant - DaMarcus Beasley.

1532: The ball breaks for Teemu Tainio on the edge of the full box, but after swivelling round he fails to get a clean strike and drags his effort wide.

1530: Tottenham are beginning to exert some authority over proceedings at home to Fulham after the visitors made a good start.

"That is a huge win for Chelsea. Liverpool had their chances but couldn't find the killer touch. It was always going to be tight, but Chelsea just came out on top. A wonderful goal from Didier Drogba, but as for Michael Ballack, that was a bad challenge - cynical and pre-meditated."
Gavin Peacock, BBC Five Live Sport

1525: FULL-TIME Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool
Jose Mourinho's Chelsea team have yet to lose in 47 Premiership matches at home, and despite playing out 38 minutes a man down they open up an eight-point advantage over Liverpool.

1522: Peter Crouch gets on the end of a Steve Finnan cross and really should score. Instead he heads it straight into the grateful arms of Petr Cech. That must be their last chance.

1521: Another good right-footed free-kick from Carlos Tevez, but Shay Given is behind it all the way, saving low down.

1520: Five minutes of added time at Stamford Bridge and it seems unlikely now that Liverpool are going to inflict a first Premiership defeat on Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge. Petr Cech is booked for time-wasting.

1517: GOAL Blackburn 1-0 Manchester City Morten Gamst Pedersen's free-kick is deflected past Nicky Weaver for an own goal off the bald pate of Trevor Sinclair. That was totally against the run of play.

1515: Shola Ameobi plays in Obafemi Martins who screws his shot wide of the West Ham goal.

1514: Manchester City come close to getting a goal their early dominance deserves but Joe Barton shoots well over after being played in by Micah Richards. A bad miss.

1511: Carlos Tevez whips a free-kick on to the Newcastle bar. Liverpool have a chance but Dirk Kuyt hooks Peter Crouch's knockdown high over the bar.

1510: Early news from Old Trafford and Arsenal will look for their first win in the Premiership without Thierry Henry.

1508: A final change for Liverpool as they look to take something from their game at Chelsea. Peter Crouch is on for Craig Bellamy.

1507: An even start at Upton Park but a first real chance goes to Newcastle, but Obafemi Martins heads wide from Damien Duff's corner. The Magpies are yet to score an away goal this season in Premiership.

1506: Steven Gerrard goes down in the box off the ball under a challenge from Frank Lampard as he looks to get on the end of Fabio Aurelio's cross. The ball breaks for Craig Bellamy but Petr Cech saves well with his legs.

1505: Dirk Kuyt climbs well to meet Steve Finnan's cross from the right but heads narrowly wide.

1504: The match at Stamford Bridge is so open at the minute and you'd never guess Chelsea were a man down as they push for a second.

1500: A change for Chelsea and Paulo Ferreira comes on for Khalid Boulahrouz. Blackburn and Manchester City are the first of the 1500 BST matches to kick off.

1459: The teams are out at the other matches. Tottenham's England international Aaron Lennon looks on from the White Hart Lane stands with his crutches close to hand following surgery on his injured knee.

1457: Steven Gerrard is played in one-on-one. The ball sits up for him on the left but his fierce volley is well saved by Petr Cech.

1456: Rafa Benitez brings Momo Sissoko off before he is sent off. Boudewijn Zenden comes on at one of his former clubs.

1455: Momo Sissoko is living dangerously. After he is called for a foul on Arjen Robben he petulantly kicks the ball away. Chelsea's free-kick catches Liverpool napping but Dirk Kuyt is alert enough to making a blocking challenge on John Terry as the ball breaks his way on the edge of the area.

1454: Jose Mourinho has mulled over his options and now he makes that change. Arjen Robben is the man coming on, with Andriy Shevchenko making way.

1451: Daniel Agger goes down under a challenge from Didier Drogba. The Norwegian feels he took an elbow to the face but, like their managers, it is all handshakes after a bit of a chat from referee Mike Riley.

1449: Michael Essien races into the box and what a tackle by Fabio Aurelio. Any mistake in the Brazilian's timing and it would have been a penalty. There wasn't.

1444: That sending off forces Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez into a change and he brings on the more adventurous Fabio Aurelio for Stephen Warnock. Jose Mourinho is biding his time before changing things.

1440: RED CARD
Michael Ballack is off. The German is bemused and argues the case with referee Mike Riley, but his stamp on the inside of Momo Sissoko's thigh looks nasty. Ballack had just come off second best in a challenge with the long-limbed Sissoko.

1434: The action resumes at Stamford Bridge.

1430: Team news is filtering through from the other grounds and Stuart Pearce, in his 50th game in charge of Manchester City, gives debuts to Dietmar Hamann and Hatem Trabelsi.

1425: Groundsmen are out on the Stamford Bridge turf tidying up the pitch. At Ewood Park, White Hart Lane and Upton Park the squads are out warming up as they build-up to the three 1500 BST kick offs.

1419: HALF-TIME Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool
By and large it was a scrappy 45 minutes but the home crowd, and the watching Tiger Woods, don't seem too bothered by that.

1418: Jermaine Pennant picks out Steven Gerrard on the left of the area with a cross-field pass but after breezing past Khalid Boulahrouz he blazes a shot over the bar from an acute angle.

1417: Jose Mourinho looks on in dumbfounded amazement as Momo Sissoko escapes a booking for a lunge on Frank Lampard. The Liverpool man is lucky to stay on the pitch.

1416: Momo Sissoko is booked for a challenge on Claude Makelele, who is making 100th Premiership appearance for Chelsea.

1413 GOAL Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool
What a great goal from Didier Drogba. The Ivorian collects Frank Lampard's dinked forward ball on the edge of the box with his back to goal and Jamie Carragher in close attendance, but spins and volleys home left-footed for his third goal in three home games. Definitely worth catching on the Match of the Day highlights at 2215 BST on Sunday if you can.

1411: Jermaine Pennant plays in Steve Finnan in the box, but the on-rushing full-back dwells on the ball and his eventual shot is blocked.

1408: Steven Gerrard accelerates in off the left touchline and a neat move through Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt threatens to open up Chelsea, but the Dutchman's backheel does not find Gerrard in the box.

1404: Ashley Cole skins Jermaine Pennant - his best friend in football - by the corner flag, but his cross is over-hit and Andriy Shevchenko cannot get his head on the end of it.

1401: That's why strikers are strikers and not defenders. Didier Drogba lunges in on Jermaine Pennant and gets a booking in a defensive position on the Liverpool right. Petr Cech claims Steven Gerrard's whipped free-kick - at the second attempt.

1400: For second time in quick succession Craig Bellamy is flagged for offside. The Liverpool man doesn't like the decision. The home crowd do. He's the villain of the piece from their perspective.

1358: Steven Gerrard steals the ball off Khalid Boulahrouz and the Dutchman is booked as he attempts to wrestle it back off the Liverpool skipper.

1354: John Terry gives the linesman the thumbs up after he spots a sneaky little trip on the Chelsea skipper by Craig Bellamy. Like a kid caught out at primary school, Bellamy berates the referee saying he did nothing wrong. And now he's giving Terry a piece of his mind. This game might finally be beginning to fire up after a tepid start.

1353: Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy link up well on the left edge of the Chelsea box, with the Dutchman laying the ball off to the Welshman. His shot is easily saved.

1351: A free-kick in a central position after Jamie Carragher clatters into the back of Michael Ballack. Frank Lampard's low drive spears passed the edge of the wall, but Pepe Reina is solidly behind the ball.

1347: Poor Chelsea marking as Liverpool maintain their pressure and Dirk Kuyt is played into space on the right. The Dutchman almost caps his first Premiership start with a first goal but cracks his effort on to the bar.

1346: Craig Bellamy's break down the left leads to a Liverpool corner after Ricardo Carvalho hooks the ball clear. The Blues easily clear.

1343: John Terry gets up gingerly after coming in like an exocet missile in an effort to get a telling touch in that goalmouth scramble. The England skipper lay prone in the Liverpool goal but has got up and looks OK.

1342: The blue-booted Didier Drogba bamboozles Stephen Warnock on the right. It's a free-kick and there is an almighty scramble on the Liverpool line but to the relief of the Reds Daniel Agger hooks the ball away.

1338: Michael Ballack drops deep to collect the ball and looks to add some pace into the game as he accelerates forward, but Ashley Cole's return pass is wayward and the move breaks down.

1336: A first booking and the recipient is Stephen Warnock. He comes through from behind on Didier Drogba.

1334: It's like a game of keep ball for the Blues out there. It's all being played at a pretty sedate pace, but Liverpool can't get hold of the ball.

1332: Andriy Shevchenko gets the ball rolling.

1328: Here are the managers and there's that handshake. Jose Mourinho waits for his rival at the entrance to the tunnel before offering his hand. He looks as if he had a heavy night on Saturday. The blue tie's tied loosely and he's sporting heavy stubble.

1327: The players emerge to a huge roar.

1324: Rafa Benitez's failure to get the better of Jose Mourinho in the league is well known, but the Reds have won just once here since a 5-2 win in 1989. It was a 1-0 win in 2004, but who was the scorer? One Bruno Cheyrou, who is now plying his trade in France with Rennes.

1321: The Chelsea players have headed down the tunnel but Liverpool are still out there doing shuttle runs and getting into gear for the kick off. They will need to as they have a rubbish record at Stamford Bridge.

1318: It promises to be a long day of football - but it should be a good one. As well as Chelsea and Liverpool, Manchester United host Arsenal at 1600 BST and there are three 1500 BST matches as well.

1315: Neither of Chelsea's scorers in that victory over Liverpool are still at the club. Hernan Crespo is at Inter Milan while William Gallas will be in action for Arsenal later today.

1313: That means Arjen Robben could come face-to-face with Pepe Reina at some stage. The Dutchman got the Reds keeper sent off in the corresponding fixture last season, which Chelsea won 2-0.

1309: Chelsea are going through their paces in the shadow of the West Stand on a glorious day in west London. Among the home squad's number is Arjen Robben, who returns to the bench after a calf injury.

1305: There were lots of empty seats at Stamford Bridge in midweek but there will be no repeat of that today. It is slowly filling up as Liverpool come out to warm up.

TEAM NEWS

Edwin van der Sar is victim of a stomach bug, and Tomasz Kuszczak makes his debut in goal for Manchester United, whom also prefer John O'Shea in midfield to Michael Carrick. For Arsenal there is no Thierry Henry or Robin van Persie. Freddie Ljungberg and Emmanuel Adebayor come in.

Francis Jeffers replaces Paul Gallagher for Blackburn. Manchester City hand full debuts to Dietmar Hamann and Hatem Trabelsi.

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes makes one change from the team that drew with SV Salzburg, recalling Francis Jeffers in attack with Paul Gallagher dropping to the bench. Dietmar Hamann makes his Manchester City debut, replacing the suspended Ousmane Dabo while jet-heeled American winger DaMarcus Beasley is named as one of the substitutes.

Tottenham make two changes from the team that won in the Uefa Cup. Danny Murphy returns from injury to replace Tom Huddlestone in midfield and Robbie Keane gets the nod up front in place of Jermain Defoe. Fulham opt for a more defensive line-up bringing in Moritz Volz and Carlos Bocanegra to replace the injured Jimmy Bullard and Papa Bouba Diop.

West Ham boss Alan Pardew replaces Yossi Benayoun with Matthew Etherington. Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi and defender Celestine Babayaro return from injury, while Peter Ramage deputises for Titus Bramble at centre-back.

Chelsea are unchanged from the team that beat Werder Bremen in midweek, which means Ashley Cole gets a first Premiership start. It is hard to predict Rafa Benitez's Liverpool teams these days, but he sticks with Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy in attack while Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso return.
